14yrs old at the time, visiting my father in Queens for vacation and I see the Most Wanted tape in the record store, which had just come out that week. Asked him to buy it and the man actually allowed me to play it in the car on the ride home. I hope I will be as supportive of my kid's taste in music as he was. .....and what an album it is.

Good way to see life's future with a personal touch. I use to listen to some heavy beats with my son who passed 10 years ago at age 39. I'd give anything to listen to his flavor in music with him. Definitely, included NWA.

The moment I heard this dude when he was with NWA, I said he should be solo because he was more talented lyrically then the other members. So it was known before his solo career that he was that dude. His first 5 releases are all classics. I don't remember not liking one song from any of them. Kill at Will (EP), America's Most Wanted, Death Certificate, The Predator and Lethal Injection.

Ironically, he was also writing verses for Eazy and Dre on the early NWA records. So really, he was just saving his best lyricism for himself. 😆 For real, though, after Cube left, the whole NWA vibe shifted. The beats got nastier, which I appreciated, but lyrically, they were rarely on the same insightful level. Because the guy who wrote the majority of their dopest rhymes was off doing it on his own solo joints.

All these years, but never knew the origin story of Cube and the Bomb Squad. Just knew they hooked up for that classic album, but not the details. I liked the Straight Outta Compton movie, but don't feel that big-screen format does justice to a story like Cube's. He's needs a definitive autobiography, or a Netflix-style series detailing his life and career. As GOATed as Cube is, I'm still not sure if hip hop, as a culture, really realizes how much of a pioneer this man was and still is. Ditto for Rakim.

Eazy-E was all about Eazy-E and you can see that when he appeared on arsenio Hall. Arsenio was just trying to get a little diplomacy out of easy but he wanted to just take these shots at Dr Dre so I think he was instrumental in causing the breakup of NWA...

💡It took an outsider like jerry heller to step in and find an angle to turn talented friends against each other for money.🎯 🙏🏿God blessed Cube with multiple success for believing in his God-given talent. May we all do the same.🙏🏿

The deal was structured so that Ruthless got a little off the top, and the band split the rest equally. So they split $375,000 five ways, which is $75,000 apiece. That was an astronomical amount of money, and everybody signed their contracts except for Ice Cube. He had a good lawyer, Lee Young, Jr., who used to be the head of business affairs at Motown and a guy that I have done business with over the years and his parents were well educated. Ruthless also had lawyers that looked over everything” Cube received $32,700 in royalties in addition to the $75,000 he wanted, totaling an initial $107,700 in cash. In the years since, all group members have accrued millions in royalties from album sales, preformances and re-releases. To insure that his finances were secure, Ice Cube also enlisted various law firms to inspect the books at Ruthless Records, yet nothing suspect ever appeared in their findings. “I treat my artists real good, I give them fair deals. I start them off at 12 points, with escelation at every 500,000. In the publishing a 50-50 split. Most people take 100% of the artists’ publishing. I know a lot of people who have sold 4 million records and ain’t even seen a million dollars. That ain’t no record deal. Now, I’m not trying to give out any big advances because that’s recoupable, that’s your own money. If you take a big advance you’ll have to pay that back if you don’t sell enough units.” ~Eazy E; January 1995

actually there was a few lines in Amerikkkas most the title track itself that made me feel he took an almost low-key shot at NWA when he said...."I keep my nine anyway, for the day one of my homies wanna sqwab, I'm still rolling with the lench mob" I think that was suspiciously shot diss
