A Confederate General with one of the most long lasting impacts on American History is definitely Jubal Early. He was known as Robert E. Lee's "Bad Old Man" and performed admirable service for Robert E. Lee during the American Civil War. He fought in nearly all of the battles fought by the Army of Northern Virginia and during his Shenandoah Valley Campaign, he pushed his little army all the way to Washington DC. When the war ended, he never surrendered and remained unreconstructed. He helped start the Lost Cause and in that way, he had the longest lasting legacy of any Confederate General; he raised Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson to demigod status and perpetuated many myths about the Confederacy, essentially writing its history.

I dont mean to sound sexist but what was the point in giving his daughters an education back then? They didnt have very many career opertunities right? What was the percieved benefit of sending his girls to school back in that time period? Did being an educated woman give you some kind of benafit back then that I'm too ignorant to see?

Having Educated children was just as good as being rich in some parts of society back then. Didn't matter the gender, to look someone in the eyes in an argument about riches or lack of, educated family was a good winning point.

Jubal Early was right the Confederacy was not defeated, but rather overwhelmed by the North’s industrial power, and the war was not fought over slavery, but rather over the rights of states to govern themselves.

The confederacy was annihilated on the battlefield, they were out thought and fought. They always claim the south had better generals. Well if that’s true it was industrial power. What battle in 61, 62 or 63 was impossible for them to win? Hmm I’m not using 64 or 65 because after three years of sucking they only worsened the odds of a southern victory. And for those that don’t know. The war was 💯about slavery. Read their reasons for secession. Slavery is all they said. Davis and Stephen state too. Your ancestors were racist. Time to live in reality.

@@liberalman8319 The Union had greater industrial capacity and could supply its armies with more food, ammunition, and equipment. Not to mention way more men. This disparity in resources put the Army of Northern Virginia at a great disadvantage especially by 1864. So why couldn’t the Army of the Potomac defeat the Army of Northern Virginia in May or June of 1864 when Grant took command. Why didn’t the Army of the Potomac annihilate the Army of Northern Virginia in those two months. Wilderness (May 5-7, 1864) Spotsylvania Court House (May 8-21) North Anna (May 23-26) Cold Harbor (May 31 - June 12) Siege of Petersburg (June 9, 1864 - March 25, 1865) Appomattox campaign (March 29 - April 9, 1865) Why did it take that long for the Army of the Potomac to finally win.

He wasn't too bad near the start of the video but near the end he became almost unbearable with the Lee worship, like get off of this man's nuts, and show some dignity, and stop attacking one of Lee best generals in JLS SMH.
