To my ears, this is the greatest band ever. In terms of influence, sure Led Zep, the Beatles and Black Sabbath take the spots - but in terms of colossal music - JUDAS PRIEST!! FOREVER! \m/

The album 'Defenders of the Faith' was released in 1984, but recorded in 1983. This concert was in december 1983. There was also a single with the song 'Freewheel Burning' released in 1983 so the year of this video is correct.

Fast and furious We ride the universe To carve a road for us That slices every curve in sight We accelerate, No time to hesitate This load will detonate Whoever would Contend its right Born to lead At breakneck speed With high octane We´re spitting flames Freewheel burning On we catapult We´re thrusting to the hilt Unearthing every fault Go headlong into any dare We don´t accept defeat We never will retreat We blaze with scorching heat Obliterations everywhere Born to lead At breakneck speed With high octane We´re spitting flames Freewheel burning Look before you leap Has never been the way we keep Our road is free Charging to the top And never give in never stops The way to be Hold on to the lead With all your will and concede You´ll find there´s life With victory on high Freewheel burning

While Sabbath are credited for starting metal, Maiden may be more popular and Metallica have sold the most albums.......Priest took metal our of the blues based sound and made it METAL. The greatest twin guitar attack in music, certainly in Metal. Plus your have by far the best metal vocalist ever in Halford and they created what is universally known as the look of metal with the leather and chains motif.

I think it was recorded at Westfalenhalle, Dortmund, in '83. Plenty of bands played during that event, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Ozzy Osbourne, Krokus, MSG and Quiet Riot. Still have it on VHS :) search the web and you'll find the whole concert.

Well...in some aspects, sure. Glen took the lead with a lot of the parts. KK was there to fill in whatever else was needed for layering and texture. Can't deny the great guitar stuff KK does on the intro of the Sinner though. That is some real supreme work with the bar there....

Of course, sung in the awesome way only Halford can do:)

What I always liked about the Priest was that so many of their songs they actually performed live and THEN released on albums. Their song Living After Midnight that you hear on the radio or otherwise is actually them performing live on the BBC back in like 1978 or some such. They never stopped that style. That's why they always sounded good live... unlike, say, Metallica.... Can't help but wonder when they'll Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Load another "album"
