Lyrics
Faster than a bullet
Terrifying scream
Enraged and full of anger
He is half man and half machine
Rides the metal monster
Breathing smoke and fire
Closing in with vengeance soaring high
He is the painkiller
This is the painkiller
Planets devastated
Mankind's on its knees
A savior comes from out the skies
In answer to their pleas
Through boiling clouds if thunder
Blasting bolts of steel
Evils going under deadly wheels
He is the painkiller
This is the painkiller
Faster then a laser bullet
Louder than an atom bomb
Chromium plated boiling metal
Brighter than a thousand suns
Flying high on rapture
Stronger free and brave
Nevermore encaptured
They've been brought back from the grave
With mankind resurrected
Forever to survive
Returns from Armageddon to the skies
He is the painkiller
This is the painkiller
Wings of steel painkiller
Deadly wheels painkiller
He is the painkiller
This is the painkiller
He is the painkiller
This is the painkiller
Pain! Pain! Killer! Killer!
Pain! Pain! Killer! Killer!
Can't stop the painkiller
Pain (pain)

I would say it's the opposite of anything satanic. The biblical return of Jesus is pretty similar in brutality to the painkiller in this song. Jesus will ride on a white horse with eyes like fire and hair like snow. He will have a sword in his hand with which he will crush the nations and destroy evil once and for all in a huge battle called Armageddon. Sound pretty metal to me.

I'd say that Black sabbath's into the void would be on par with this song in terms of how heavy it is and what it means to the genre, even if it doesn't have the same vocals (it is a heavier song that goes for weight and momentum of shredding and speed), I'd argue that its own vocals contribute to the story it tells in much the same manner as what goes on here.

A couple tweeks to the original 90s painkiller release, or even just releasing it, would be fine! But those 2001 john/rick? astley remasters were awful. More bass guitar, but it lost the great drum sound. The original painkiller cd is the way to go. Or single vinyl even. If it has bonus tracks, or its 2 lps, you have the awful astley version.

I can't find the comment again, but to whoever said they didn't like how a good guy (Painkiller) is described as violent and dangerous: Being dangerous and having the ability to carry out violence are not bad things, it is how that violence is carried out, and who or what that danger is projected toward which make it good or evil. Carrying out violence in the protection of innocence and freedom are some of the most noble and good motives I can think of, which makes this song even more badassed. Something so powerful and capable of such destruction and violence, but devoted to the protection of others... you CAN'T STOP THE PAINKILLER!

In fact it defined back in 1990 very much WHAT metal was! I remember when I first heard this song back than as a twelve year old, and suddenly my musical universe was extended to vast wide open space devoid of all boundaries. Humans will die by shockwave alone from a sound louder than 200 db. Every 10 db the sound increases 10fold, so he produces shockwaves at least 10x greater than something that can kill people just by moving lol) Coated with boiling metal (Chromium plated boiling metal) 1000x more light energy than the Sun (Brighter than a thousand suns) Can bring the dead back to life (Nevermore encaptured/They've been brought back from the grave) Can grant immortality to the entire human race(With mankind resurrected/Forever to survive) Damn, Painkiller is OP.

Glenn Tipton's guitar solo blows my head off every time I hear it, those arpeggios sound like nothing I've ever heard before. Has to be one of the best guitar solos to come out of 90's metal music, or even written in general. Up there with what Marty Friedman was doing with megadeth on rust in peace

Best metal track ever done. Unbeatable! Happy to be born in the 80’s and that my brother offered me Pain Killer CD when it was released in this platform. That CD is one of my most precious albums. Yes; that Good!

This is reflecting and inspired by biblical events. All eyes will see Him coming in power and glory on that day, the first resurrection. 🙏✨
