Rob`s tune about a crazy night at gay bars on Fire Island NY. I owned a cool record shop in the gay village in Vancouver for 25 yrs. He came in once looking for CDs. Super nice gentleman. I remember the day, Baldhead, extreme tats on his skull and a leather full-length coat. I knew who he was. We never bothered celebrities. Rock a Rolla was an album I bought back in the day when I was a kid. Terrible production but fun nonetheless. I liked some of their other records too. Great live. He bought some Lamb and Morcheeba CDs We had many big names in the music industry dig for records. He was by far the mellowest , humble guy to ever come into the shop. Mello Metal God!

I always loved this song for The Riffs™, but realizing as an adult that Halford technically came out of the closet back in 1977 by releasing this AC/DC-esque sleazy fuck ballad about a CNC gangbang at Fire Island flatout elevated it to my favorite Priest track lmao

Tom Power interviewed him on Q the other day, they discussed this. And played some of the track. Ya don't hear much Priest on CBC.

And to think the general public only really cottoned on to the song’s meaning after Halford’s “official” coming out nearly *three decades* later.

I was in a band at the time and remember hearing the "Fire Island" reference. Being they were British, I thought it might mean something else? Once he came out, I had an entirely different understanding. Crazy, but if you'd called him gay in their hay day, there'd have been a fight! Regardless, there's only one Rob Halford and it just ain't Priest without him!
