Oh yes, I've had the occasion of interacting with both Rob and Ian after a show. Total sweethearts. They didn't have to talk to a bunch of drunk fans waiting by the bus but they did, each and everyone of us. One of my fondest memories.

His vocal capability is without a match but also Halford may very well be one of the very best rock/metal frontmen ever. Amazing appearance, movements, energy on stage. He embodies the whole spirit of Judas Priest looking like he just got out of a 70's super fast motorcycle spaceship that destroys its enemies with huge energy cannons. Basically HE is the painkiller.

The metal genre was invented in the late 60s, at that time there was no trace of Judas Priest. The band didn't really take off until Glenn Tipton joined in 1974.. They contributed to shaping but did not invent the genre.

They were in peak form here, brilliantly rehearsed, warmed up, well-oiled, utmostly professional. The voice is searing, the guitars are splendid and while many people criticize Dave Holland as their drummer (of course I rank Les Binks extremely high), you must admit he is spotless here, focused, precise, with great drum sound and consumate team player attitude.

Of course this isn't the sound that the audience heard during the concert. This recording was definitely polished up a bit in the studio before being released. It's standard practice. It's even likely they used recordings from several concerts.

Priest and Black Sabbath are the best and the originals of true Heavy Metal. The first 2 bands to really embrace being referred to as "Heavy Metal"...back then it was an insult and no band wanted to be considered Heavy Metal, every band I have seen answers the "What kind of band are you?" question with "We're just a Rock N Roll band". I admire that about them.

The best live band ever and the best guitar Duo ever! The fuel for life tour is literally Alien like Rob is a God! I don't think people in that time realised how unreal and crazy live performance was let alone Priest. No live concert ever, then or now, took you to the land of the Metal future the way Priest did! They are forever the Metal gods.
