Then he goes to court to recoup some of his loss (for trying to be a good person) just to end up losing out on more (I realize he got something, but the kid clearly admitted to being spiteful and should have paid the full amount). Now that landlord will probably never help another tenet out again, and all because of that young man using him.

So I'm not making excuses for the kid. I believe he MAY have been depressed or his disease made him extremely tired. Depression can make it seem impossible to do the littlest task. The fact that he didn't clean up after his dog is proof of this. Its not just someone else's property he was living like that. It takes some serious depression/fatigue from disease to live that way. I suffer from bipolar depression and while I'm in my depression phase the smallest task seems impossible. Sometimes even getting up to go pee seems like a huge task. Again he still should have been more respecting of someone else's property but I do believe that was at least part of the reason he lived that way.
@angelique7576 жыл бұрын
I’m sure it isn’t depression it’s the anemia. I have pernicious anemia and it makes you extremely fatigued, short of breath, etc. but it’s not impossible to do anything. I have a child and a home to take care of. He’s just lazy and using his disease as an excuse to be disgusting.

Depression is mentally, physically and spiritually draining...but you know something, people who suffer from depression are some of the strongest people you'll ever meet...some of us persevere even when we don't see a way out, that's called drive...not everyone possesses that drive. I do believe that his condition may make him sluggish and all but you gotta push yourself.
@anonymousunnamed30266 жыл бұрын
To an extant. I have bipolar as well, and like you, sometimes BREATHING is overwhelming. However, I am also a single mother and I have responsibilities and not much help. I have degenerative discs in my back, panic disorder, and a heart condition that makes it impossible to take the meds I should be taking, but I digress. Some things have to be done, just bc they have to be. If I didn't do it, nobody would. I HAVE to take care of my son. Feed him, clothe him, make sure he is in a CLEAN, stable environment. No matter how much pain I'm in or how depressed I get, I refuse to live in filth. Besides, he has a fiancee. Why isn't SHE picking up the slack when he is sick? That was just plain irresponsibility and disregard toward another's property. That was an entitlement issues, lack of accountability, complete disrespect, and vindictive behavior. I am hesitant to say that is physical/ mental health. BC not all of us with afflicted with mental and physical health issues choose to live like that. We all have choices, and he CHOSE to live like that. (BTW: When you're depressed, living in such chaos is bad for your depression. And choosing to clean up actually helps your depression.)

The 26 year old is a user. Moral to this story.... Landlords, if the person does not meet your requirements, don't let them move in. 9 out of 10 people are users.
@jbijouphoto93977 жыл бұрын
I had to comment on this one. Yes, the landlord helped him and he self-righteously took his own applause for that. But when a landlord tries to hem me down in the street, harm me and my family, he's taken things to a different level. He felt he didn't need to respect the tenant over the money issue (ahem, why rent to someone when you know they have money issues and try to act shocked and appalled when they don't have the money????) because the tenant was previously on hard times. I don't see him as anything more than a "Businessman taking care of women in exchange for mandatory special favors". People feel that they can treat people poorly if they are in a higher place and that applies to this landlord. If you're going to offer help, then it needs to be in your heart FIRST, and then in your actions. The tenant did do wrong, I do not deny that. But you can't go threatening people and their family and expect everything to be all fine and dandy. As a landlord for more than 10 years, I'm disgusted with this person's (Marine, Warrant Officer, 10 degrees, former gang member) actions. l hope I never bump into this person. Ever. Shame on him.
@sonicthehedgehog83485 жыл бұрын
You are disgusted with the wrong person. The landlord helped him and his girlfriend out and they both lied to him. While one is away the other could be cleaning, that wasn't the case here. If you have a temper, you have no business being a landlord or in any occupational position that deals with the public. The defendant shouldn't have trashed the place, either, since the landlord originally gave him a second chance. But I also think the plaintiff shouldn't be a landlord because of his temper. He knew the kid went through a lot and had a rough back ground so, he shouldn't have been surprised when the defendant retaliated to the plaintiff's threats. You don't threaten a person's family because they aren't paying rent in full. You give them a couple of warnings out of courtesy then, if not taken care of, evict them. Also, Judge Faith, do you not know what it means when someone says the sink is "backed up"? That means unclean water would be in the sink, like in the picture. The defendant took responsibility for trashing the apartment so why would he lie about the sink backing up? And what's with the title of this video? "A Kind Threat"?? A landlord threatening a tenant's family is kind? Anyway, I don't even know of _any_ threat that's kind...dumb title. I agree the defendant owes for damages but the plaintiff should have taken care of the plumbing.

FYI, landlord cannot just toss you out on the street. They have to take you to court and get an official court order, and then they have to go to the sheriff to escort you off the property (I worked for a housing authority for a few years, so I know all about rental laws). Tenants have much more rights than they realize. Always call the cops if a landlord tries to force you out without a court order.
