I saw this case a long time ago and still feel bad about it. A lot of what the judge said is true yet they are all platitudes. If a women is pregnant in a secure marriage the family all rally around the women, happy and supportive and are tolerant of any sensitivities. In this case this woman is totally alone and there seems no understanding of her situation. She works, has medical appointments, transport issues etc, All alone. It's not a 50/50 split. Her isolation was so obvious. My best wishes to her and her family.

It seems to me like the defendant likes to make all these big decisions, but he is not willing to take responsibility for ANY of them. He has been in at least three broken relationships and now he's in another one and he just wants to bury his past mistakes and pretend they don't exist and move on even though he now has children in at least 2 of the past relationships....He convinces her to flip a truck with him and she gives him $1500, but then he fails to flip the truck and won't take responsibility and give her her money back. They want to be in a relationship and presumably have unprotected sex, but then when the plaintiff comes up pregnant, he says "Oh I've moved on to another woman....I'm not taking responsibility for this baby.....even though in truth this IS his baby and he has at least 50% of the responsibility in her creation. She didn't ask to be born....they had unprotected sex at least twice and that is the price he is now having to pay....and the baby does not deserve to be labeled a mistake because the father won't accept responsibility and believes he has enough children to support.
