@ANGELIQUE SMITH I had exactly the same situation. The last time i loan one of my closest friends money because of her ex husband's tax evasion, so he wouldn't go to jail. It was about 2000 euros. He had lost his job, he had health issues and they were in dire straits. Imagine my surprise when i found out by accident that they had a preplanned 20 days vacation to a family friend abroad. They had a mini tour of central Europe.I never took all my money back. That was a costly mistake. I should have known better.

my rule is, if I loan you money, there is a high probability that the same person will ask for money again. I will let you have it, depending on the amount but if I have to chase you down, that person can never ask me for money again.

Agree. Learning that lesson now. Known friend for 20+ years, she calls me her daughter's godmother, tells people I'm her sister and now that she owes me money from a loan I gave over 7 months ago - she doesn't respond to my texts/calls, has repeatedly lied about why she hasn't paid, but keeps telling me how much she loves me. I'm like just tell me the truth. I can't get the money if you ain't got it but don't do me like this...geez. Never again.

I've known my best friend for over 30yrs. She is married to my oldest friend, whom I have known for 45 YEARS. I am *beyond* blessed to have them in my life,l but I would NEVER screw up what we have by borrowing a huge sum like that off of them! If I had it, and they needed it, I'd just give them the money, maybe make a joke about paying for my funeral, one day. People might be willing to take you on vacation, it doesn't mean they feel like paying your bills. My sister wouldn't help me pay for a medical procedure, but INSISTED on buying my season tickets to the Opera. Priorities!!

Once you loan someone money, you are now the bank. You must get all transactions in writing and charge them interest. They also must have collateral. If they say something along the lines of, "I can go to a real bank for all of that" then you respond with, "Yes, that's the point".

I really don't like how flippant the defendant in the first case was being when asked why she didn't respond to her friend. Or maybe that's just how she talks.

I just had to give my 2 cents. The plaintiff was a very good friend to her friend and the boyfriend. Why haven't the boyfriend step up & try to help. That's pitiful he could of stayed home. Why are you working paycheck to paycheck and still have nothing 🙃

Re case 1, lender shouldn't have to chase lendee for the $$$. If lendee can ask, then lendee should be just as responsible and put out that same kind of eager energy spent GIVING THE MONEY BACK as she did TAKING it!!! JMO. Been there.U

1st case: the defendants were awful, they were ungrateful, ugly jerks. 2nd case: the plaintiffs were scam artists and I don’t think they deserved a penny.
