Since she either throws everyone in jail or gives the ridiculous time adjudicated so they go eventually im betting the officers know the routine. Fair? If you pay attention ahe gives everyone the max sentence allowed. This is why someone who never done drugs shouldn’t be a drug councelor an someone who had a great family structure shouldn’t judge others who where born addicted or had a prostitute for a mom. She gives 4yrs for 1gram non violent

Judge Boyd was not having it today. 2nd defendant and his attorney was clearly not expecting to go to jail for his probation violation and the third defendant and his attorney (along with the State) that were only asking for 2 years all rolled their eyes when she said 4 years instead of 2. I don’t know the story of the first case but as a former victim of child abuse I can testify that we very seldom report the abuse. My siblings and I were being physically, verbally, psychologically and sexually abused by our moms boyfriend. At one point he beat my brother so bad and threatened to kill him so he ended up running away. We think he did it to get rid of our brother so he would have easier access to us girls. When your parent allows this shit to happen to you you don’t trust other adults, you feel shame and helplessness. I hate the fact that she just dismissed his claims of abuse because he hadn’t ever reported it. She should have continued the case and had the other children questioned, I can’t say that they would have spoke up verbally but their demeanor and visual clues could have shed some light on the case.

You all are missing the point the judge made: he pointed guns at his three minor siblings and said "shut the F up or I'll shoot you." Were his young siblings beating him? Children who are abused tend to protect their siblings, not make the abuse worse!

The judge can only rule by the evidence in front of her. That's why school staff are designated mandatory reporters. Students display signs of abuse of all kinds (and yes, we are trained on what to look for...even subtle hints). That kid didn't out of the blue get into armed house invasions. There were signs of anger and trauma beforehand. The judge asked pertinent questions, the last of which was, "Did you report it?"

$45k bc your 17 yr old cousin robbed you and stole guns?? I get the experience is traumatic as he**. I couldn’t imagine going thru that as an adult or kid. But where do they get restitution if no money is lost? Meaning they got all the stolen items returned after the case closed so they’re not out anything monetarily. It kind of sounds like they wanted to turn the experience into a payday. It was already gross enough being children suspects, being violent towards other children relatives. It shows there are clearly issues in the family. But that doesn’t mean you get a payday. How would a 17 yr old in prison even pay it?? He would have no way. Did they expect the state to just cut a check? I’m confused on the logic of even asking for restitution let alone the high amount.

2nd defendant - Well done Judge B. Excellent wake-up call - not only for the defendant, but also for the Defence Attorney and the Prosecution. Just because you both agree to some BS extra conditions of parole don't mean the Judge has to buy into your crap. He's done one DV course and the prosecution wants him to do another because he broke a parole condition not related to his DV? "We want you to do another domestic violence course, not because you committed another DV but because you travelled out of State!" It's the BS equivalent of ordering driving lessons for a drunk driver - it doesn't address the real issue. Ten days in the slammer, on the other hand, addresses the issue of violating parole by travelling out of State absolutely perfectly. Judge B deserves all the flowers and handbags in the world. Here's some from me. 🌹👜

I was sexually, mentally and physically abused and told NO ONE until I was in high school. She should know that it’s not rare for a child not to tell anyone. I don’t like her take on this. If he was indeed beaten, it just furthers the narrative that people won’t believe him. We hear that enough in our childhood. She needs to become trauma informed because she obviously knows NOTHING about trauma! The same goes for DV. I DID finally report mine because he almost killed me, but even then the police were awful! If I hadn’t had bruising on my neck when he strangled me. I don’t think they would’ve taken him!

Yeah, she said something about no reports of the other children being abused… oftentimes one child…usually the oldest, particularly if they are male will get the brunt of it, it’s helps the abuser assert their dominance and the younger will be more likely to fall in line so it doesn’t happen to them. I can totally see the stepfather wanting him out of the house because he’d have more control of the others. It happened with my brother, our mom’s boyfriend beat him really badly and threatened to kill him, my brother ended up running away.

My mother beat me since I was very young and I never told anyone, but it still happened. I was also molested as a child and never told anyone till I was an older adult. It still happened. Not reporting something does not mean it didn’t happen. To many rapes are never reported and again that does not mean it didn’t happen. One other peeve I have is a lot of times people plead guilty even though they are NOT guilty. It is not a fair system we have, but it’s all we have unless your rich. We DO have a two-tier system. The only ones that do not think that is true are the rich.

This is no joke, it’s not funny, but Johnny is about to get turned all the way out when he hits the compound. He will be rockin pink toilet dyed underwear, getting paraded around the yard holding pockets with his prison daddy working on growing his hair out. When your a small feminine looking for guy, you can be assured that someone if not several people are going to pull up on you, put a piece of steel to your throat and I make it very clear that you are going to do things you never imagined you would. Some guys agree, and suffer through it silently, trying to hide it to avoid the additional violence that would come with resisting. Just as common, if not more, guys will reach out to people in positions of power, and em agree to become their girlfriend in exchange for the protection they can offer them from being victimized by multiple people. It’s very sad when your best option is allowing one person to do things to you that you do not want so that you are not fair game for the countless individuals constantly searching for someone to use for their own pleasure. Young men need to consider the full range of possibilities when they are running around, thinking they are tough. It’s one thing to get tough with your parents and juvenile siblings, but going into a correctional facility full of sharks, these type of guys realize they are more akin to guppies…but it’s to late!

The fact of having multiple minors as threatened victims (Cs1) or violence against pregnant persons (Cs 2 and 3) and the comparatively light sentencing recommendations worked against the defendants, especially for the lack of justice for victims. When the Court says don't leave Baer County, it means exactly that. I wanted to reach through my screen and pick-up the female attorney's face myself.

If I was a criminal in bexar county I would be shook to ever appear in judge Boyd’s courtroom! I live in a very liberal state in the northeast and I’m so shocked at how much prison time she just casually hands out! Where I live, I’ve seen countless homicide cases where the defendants receive less than 10 years! Armed robberies where the defendant received less than 5 years, aggravated assaults with a firearm where the defendant received less than 5 year, cases where defendants have violated probation more times than you can count without being violated or having community supervision revoked, defendants with more drug/paraphernalia charges than you can count without ever being held in the county jail or sentenced to any time! I can’t even count how many times I’ve watched judge boyd revoke probation and sentence someone to several years in prison after a single probation violation even on some of the most basic cases! I’m glad that criminals aren’t flocking to my state because if they knew how badly or how many times you had to screw up around here in order to get incarcerated then we’d be overrun!

By Michigan sentencing standards (including truth in sentencing where you serve the minimum before even being sent to the parole board and almost never get parole on the first try, adding two years or more to a person's prison term) this judge would be considered a bit on the lenient side. However, since Texas doesn't have truth in sentencing and the people being sent to prison in her court can theoretically be released after only serving about 30% of their sentence her sentences come across as especially lenient. The gun case would have likely got the defendant life without parole here in Michigan (the most lenient sentence I have heard of here in Michigan for actually pointing a gun at someone in anger since sentencing reform in the late 1990's is 25 years to life). I think Judge Boyd tries to be fair but is impeded by extremely lenient Texas sentencing guidelines and a prosecuting attorney that doesn't seem to like sending people to prison (other than murder where in most Texas courts the defendant is routinely executed). Also, Texas prisons are kindergarten compared to Michigan's prisons.

I’m sorry I am sure the kid did everything he is accused of, bus I watch this judge everyday, and I think it is bullshit she always says if they don’t have “proof” their parents or parter abuse them behind closed doors it’s not true. When you are an abused child you don’t trust adults and you are afraid to say anything because who would believe you, the beating you’d get from speaking up will be worse than you already get and when you’re told nobody else wants you, your dad has a new family and doesn’t care about you, you figure you don’t have a choice but to live with it.

@@Lwah0812 exactly. Thank you 🙏 and every time she talks to them with a tone and in a way that makes them never want to come forward again. This case she does it and I get that people have a really hard time looking passed what someone is accused of, but she has said this to tons of defendants and it’s not right. Everyone knows people don’t usually report abuse to anyone especially the police…. 🤦‍♂️

Really? He uses a GRINDER to empty a safe of all its guns. Then Threatens to shoot a person for screaming/crying/whatever. Pointing the guns at multiple people. Granted the step-parents (or whatever their role is) are probably not well adjusted people. I am willing to bet that most of the 'family' is dysfunctional. HOWEVER, you do not need to point guns and threaten people with guns. Guns are ONLY for Last Resort. Life threatened or threat of great bodily injury. As the Judge said there was NO Proof (evidence) of the 'Kid' being beat on or threatened in anyway. He never told anyone before hand that he was beat on or threaten in anyway. But, comes up with this story when he is finally in front of the Judge. If I was the Judge I would be skeptical of his story too. The 'Kid' made a CHOICE to do all of that. Wrong Choice. There are Consequences for that. Consequences for your CHOICES in life. The 'Kid' Earned his time in jail.

Azure- I can't see your comment here for some reason, only in my notifications. But No Contest carries the same sentencing guidelines as guilty. It's really no different than pleading guilty except for what you described. It just means he chose not to fight it.

@@billybassman21 In Michigan he would likely have received life without parole. He had moved out of the home, was no longer in danger so he had no business breaking into the house and gun safe than using the guns to terrorize his own brothers and sisters.
