@rolmodel12.2 жыл бұрын
Came down here to find this, and if it wasn't said: then I would take the flag. The dismantling shocked/deflated all of us Cubs fans. But, the one that actually made me emotional was Rizzie. Seeing Baez, Bryant, and Kyle Schwarbs go was hard, because they came up as Cubs. But, they definitely had their bad points, too. But, Rizzo had been there through some of the worst seasons I have ever witnessed. The one's that gave us the draft capital to build that Championship team. He had seen us through thick and thin, and we cheered for him through the same. And, though he could slump, he was usually consistently available. Even when he wasn't hitting for average, he would still get on base, field his position well, and come through in clutch situations. In other words, you could count on Anthony. And then there's the stuff you can't measure. The smile and sense of humor. The pure joy that he exudes when the team is winning and when his teammates are doing well. He loves to have fun, and it shows. And, of course, his obvious love of this great game. Which is why we are all here: love of baseball. He has something in common with all of us, fans and players alike. Just a great teammate and an even better dude. Wish there was more like 'em out there, both in the game and life in general.

Maybe because the “ultimate grand slam” sounds like something someone came up with to try and add something to the list of incredible feats, but it’s just not that incredible.

@@MDK2_Radio 2022 is the first time in American League history which two ultimate grand slams were hit in the same year, now add to the fact they were both hit by the same team and only 34 days apart, yeah totally not an incredible feat. The only other team to hit two ultimate grand slams in the same season was the 1956 Pittsburgh Pirates who hit them 75 days apart. The Pirates franchise also lead the entire MLB in ultimate grand slams at four until Stanton hit the Yankees fourth against the Pirates. The only year with more ultimate grand slams was 2011 where the Indians, Astros and DBacks each hit one. There's been over 218,400 MLB games and only 33 have ended in ultimate grand slams, for comparison there have only been 23 perfect games. I say it's pretty damn impressive that the Yankees have hit two this year, especially in the later half of the season where they've struggled and played through countless injuries to nearly all their best players

@@chrismac5560 the rareness of it doesn’t make it cool. It’s still not impressive a perfect game or an immaculate inning. It’s just a walkoff home run with one cool aspect (it’s a grand slam) and one completely incidental aspect that’s not cool at all (the score). There’s a reason why they can’t be sure how many times it happened before the records were good enough to sort through them. Nobody cared enough to remark on them in the first place.

How can you not be romantic about baseball? This to me is the best moment of the season. Historic Yankee stadium, Judge hits his 60th to approach another Yankee and AL record and make it a 3 run game in the 9th, father and son hug, fans are going crazy. Then the bases get loaded and Stanton drills a walkoff grand slam. The fans are losing their minds, Rizzo is as happy as he's ever been, Judge and Stanton are elated and in a brotherly love eye lock, the Yankees are acting as if they won the WS. EVERYTHING is just perfect here, and it's all wrapped up by an always amazing Jomboy breakdown. God, just amazing, I don't care which team you vote for. This is why baseball will always live on. @@silentstorm5439 I'm not against players using hgh or whatever stuff their trainers give them, I think it's probably better for baseball. I just think we shouldn't be completely oblivious to a strong possibility of it happening

Not a Yankees fan because of 2009. I am a Phillies fan, but these moments are still fun to watch. Love your stuff.
