I might not go that far, or at least get that specific. But the attorney's repeated avoidance of speaking about *how* those 2nd- and 3rd-degree burns came to be did raise my eyebrows ... There'd be no reason to avoid speaking of that if it were, say, a random car crash or structure fire. She was using her professional judgement there, and I infer that that judgement was that this information would be unlikely to generate sympathy. Of course, it could also be that the burns were from an attack by Certain People With A Certain Sort of Influence ... and he is -- quite understandably -- rather opposed to wearing a snitch-jacket. That's possible, but not very likely.

Addicts must have an arsenal of lies and excuses ready for any situation.
@mrzfieldz.official6 ай бұрын
as a recovering addict... you are 100% right! I cant lie even if my life depended on it... but when I was using, I lied like my life depended on it! the crap I lied about is just embarrassing! I even lied to my own husband and hes my best friend, I told him things that no one else knows about me. I would do anything to get high except to prostitute myself. that was one thing I couldn't do, I thought about it though.. especially at the end when I wasnt using to get high anymore, I was just using to avoid withdrawal. but I could never bring myself to do something like that. im positive that if I didnt get clean when I did, I would end up either selling myself or dead. Addiction is no joke and it is an epidemic.
@whitway126 ай бұрын
Addict here, 5 years sober - I will say that is common, I think the reason I didn’t lie AS much is I completely isolated myself - it could be argued that I was always sort of lying just going through life trying to make it seem as if I wasn’t an addict, but luckily for me, I hid it exceptionally well so no one was really asking me questions. I didn’t have a partner and didn’t date, didn’t have kids, didn’t socialize much, just made sure I worked and paid my bills, my guilty conscience was enough to not further burden anyone. When you’re an addict, with certain types of drugs, the part of your brain that is responsible for your survival instincts, and your emotional regulation, is hijacked with one message, and it’s very loud, that you must use to function. With other types, it’s a physical dependency. It takes a lot of effort and hard work to retrain that part but you definitely find yourself doing things you thought you’d never do, even if it’s something like still being awake Christmas morning because you never slept, etc. @mrzfieldz.official - congratulations on your sobriety, I’m proud of you, keep it up, it’s a lifelong commitment! ❤
