In a scathing rebuke of the Arizona Department of Corrections, a federal judge has ordered that the state agency will face trial for repeatedly violating a settlement agreement in a long-standing lawsuit over prison healthcare.

Our jails and prisons are full of people w mental illness, and health issues. I am so glad that someone is trying to do something. It is costing us so much and the care is not being given. We are not doing anything is we are not providing basic needs when we are putting them in prison or jails. And if we don't provide the basic things they get mad, and rebel. I know staff is short but if someone is treated like an animal w no voice they will react as an animal and demand a voice. So thankful for this investigator.

Dont do the crime if you cant do the time. One reaps what one sows. Give the convicts a budget and let them manage the place and meet the standards they demand from the taxpayer. Which are only half the people in this country. Since when is zero a fair share.

Our system is over run more than half w mentally ill people who have self medicated and are now in our prison and jail systems. That friend is a crime. Yea that's a lie, there are some who are mentally ill, but a lot of them are hide outs, and the fact your care about these inmates is amazing. If you actually work inside the prison with these inmates like a CO, your words would change and if they didn't your compromised. That's a fact. These are grown ass children who don't care about anything and those are facts.

My dad was incarcerated in the aspc in the Winchester unit. They found out he had lung cancer no treatment besides ibuprofen. My dad was released on September 13th in which time he found out the cancer had spread to his spine. He passed away September 22 . Someone needs to be held accountable for my daddy’s death, my dads blood is on someone’s hands.

a judge can order them to hire more employees, but if the people dont want to work for them, they are not going to be able to hire. I worked for Nevada Department of Prisons, I think half our officers were ex AZ officers. The wages were far better in NV.

If you do not allow any human being to see the sky or sun or smell the wind or fresh air for months on end even years, you will get in return mentally ill individuals. Cruelty is not correction and certainly not rehabilitation! Disgusting what these inmates go through in 4th Avenue jail.

This country is really stupid man.. so the judge is putting a lawsuit on the country or the state or how does this suing work it's just stupid why don't you just hire more correction officers and don't take money from the taxpayers and fix the problem so suing is going to leave for money which is not going to benefit nobody but suing its own country it's just stupid

@@rico989 it's just really annoying man because you would think that these private companies would have follow state laws because they are living in the country by the laws of the federal state you would think that these things would be up in order but you have to sue them and do all this other mumbo-jumbo just to get things done when the government can't just go in there and shut them down and stop all this back-and-forth of suing it's just really stupid but at the end of the day it's all about taking money away of the civilians

They’re being sued by the federal judge. I think to make an example out of AZ so other states don’t make the same mistakes. The department has a budget and I guess the feds want more money into healthcare and staffing.

We were glad just to get fed let alone that I couldn't get dental care and had gingivitis so bad that all my teeth were pulled after I got released. You don't realize so many people end up there for ridiculous stuff. & Don't think for a minute innocent people don't end up in there. There's a lot of hard criminals, I agree, some things people do I have no sympathy for them. but there's a lot of really ridiculous things that end people in jail. The lawyers & prosecutors play games with people's lives for their own "wins". There's a lot of money that goes through the system that is supposed to provide basic care. It ends up in the pockets of white collar thieves. Making them worse than the people in there.

It is quite ironic that people expect something better when the entire prison system has been transformed to a profit-making institution rather than a correctional Federal institution that it ought to be and this has created a situation where people are in prison for things that are totally unrelevant. Then creating profit for for individuals who are engaged in making profit to imprison people obviously these people are going to be very brutal in the operation because it's a capitalistic facility but I do not blame the profiteers. I blame taxpayers and society at Large we have allowed such things to happen because we have become negligent of the fact that there are certain institutions that we should never allow for big business to take over and this is now becoming a problem because we the people I engage in tribal politics rather than a social activism making sure that institutions serve us in the greatest ability because that's why we pay tax I prefer to being in a federal jail. than to be in a profiteer imprisonment camp no human right is observed and people are treated like savages.
