Unfortunately the real guilty parties don’t seem to share the same sense of remorse even tho they were the true cause of so much devastation. My heart goes out to all the victims in this episode, the ones still here with us struggling with grief, loss and regret, and of course the six innocent children and the mother of four that brutally had their lives taken. If your dad has done time for very serious attempted murders previously too, there's not much doubt that he would be capable of this too but sadly the son doesn't seem able to see it. Mick philpott might have loved his kids but not enough to get a job and look after them the right way .... Life was all about him and how he loved control... No loving parent would put they kids at risk let alone take they lives ....He never thought of the smoke inhalation from the fire he caused and how it kills ... He was in his 50's he should of known setting the fire was a huge risk ...

Those poor children. I'm only a third of the way through, and I can't imagine what must be going on in Michael's mind. I'm slightly struggling to reconcile the image of a father who cares with the person who has burned the house with his children inside. The Stephens case. That's so bleak. I know alcoholism is a disease, but it's not one that I understand. I just don't understand how it could have come to it. I don't think that I can comprehend how you could muddle on afterwards, but then I suppose there's no choice in it.

Michael how did Mick Philpott he treat your mother. I heard he was abusive towards Heather. You know your dad is guilty for why would you think you could save all your siblings if you were there? I wished they asked him if your dad didn't do this evil deed then who? Don't blame yourself you were a great sibling to them continue to be a better person especially you have to face your father's misdeeds you can hold your memories but be objective your father is a selfish murderer

Im sorry but the siblings in the 2nd story should have been more involved especially as their brother was talking about how evil their mother was and how he wanted to kill her. That should have caused their brother to be removed from the home asap, not left at the pub, drunk and volitile. Also there is no real emotion from either during the interview, sick and toxic family
@christopherfield6890

How dare you! You know absolutely nothing about any of the people in this interview. I am the daughter in the interview, and I never went a day without contact with my mother, I lived with my mother half of the week, every week for 4 months after my twin brother died because she was so distraught...I cooked for her, cared for her and did everything I could for her...After 4 months I had to go back home because I had 4 children of my own to look after, but I saw her regularly and was in contact every single day...As for my brother, she was strongly advised not to take him in...I told her it was a bad idea, but he was her son, and she did what any mother would do, and nobody was going to change her mind on that! And he might of told our other brother that he felt like killing our mother, but who would believe that he would actually carry that out? He thought it was just hot air! And he still carries that guilt with him 7 years on...And how can you say there was no emotion? All because you can't see us crying? That doesn't mean we weren't emotional, You see less than a 30 minute interview, and think you know everything. If anyone is toxic, it's you with your nasty evil comment...I'm literally sickened reading this.

I hope he gets good help and has a happy life in the future. He didn’t choose that life . But also could be just like him and selling stories for money

I still wonder if he did it to rid himself of the kids to either be free or possibly to be 'free' to get back with the ex. (in his mind obviously). Or his intent was to save the kids but if he didn't he wasn't too bothered. The mother I have no idea.
