White people never get in trouble the same way as minorities. When we were kids our parents told us not to cause trouble like our White friends. If she was Black then she would have gotten 42 years to life. White people will always get the benefit of doubt even when they commit murder. It’s not fair but it’s how the system works. It was built by White people for White people.

@@onestepbeyond7240 Forty five should've been the sentence. In '17/'18 in San Joaquin County (CA) a DUI defendant received three consecutive fifteen year terms for killing three. Why she received less than half is mind boggling. I just about had it. We must crack down on a crime WHICH IS ALWAYS PREVENTABLE. Even more so given we have taxis, Uber & Lyft. If you're broke, then sleep it off. First offense ought to be five days in jail. $3,000 fine. Yup. Now it's only $1,900. Used to be $2,400 pre 2000. One year suspension. Now it's only six months. It's the respective weight and speeds/direction of the colliding cars, elasticity of the collision, seatbelts or ejection from the vehicle and typically drunks have slower response time and don't tense up. So it's a lot of factors at play here. I think to a certain degree it may also be our perception of the crashes due to news coverage, because if the drunk dies, there's no trial, so no extensive coverage

I think crying when receiving a life sentence is pretty normal. Most of us would've done the same, myself included. But her crime was driving while drunk. I'm not saying it's right, or that she isn't responsible for those deaths. She absolutely is. I'm saying it's not like she is a cold blooded killer. She got drunk and went for a drive, which is very, very wrong, but it isn't difficult to believe that she never wanted anyone to die. It doesn't surprise me to hear drunk drivers feeling awful when they learn someone died as a result of their actions.

How do you have a prior DUI and not get your license suspended for a lengthy amount of time. It’s time to tighten up on DUI and any type of reckless driving. Edit: I had to pull out a reckless DUI driver last weekend out of burning car. In my head I could’ve done the world a favor if I just left him in the wreckage to bleed out.. really in a matter of seconds I could act on my own justice but the world would rather fall to making money over putting others peoples life safety. I kid you not the last week in neighborhood there’s been 10 major incidents involving fatal DUI. LA is great

Realize judges should have flexibility in sentencing, but DUI sentences vary widely. Here in San Joaquin County a judge sentenced a drunk driver back in '16/'17 to three consecutive terms of fifteen years each for killing three for a total of at least forty five years. How she received less than half with a prior DUI is puzzling. This judge definitely isn't a rookie. Always questioned this country's attitude towards DUI. Over 12,000+ killed yearly the last fifty years. Just a day in jail on first offense. Charged a misdemeanor unless there's bodily injury. $1,900 fine. Six months license suspension. A year of DUI classes. At least a point. Car towed: used to be held for thirty days. At least face five days in jail w/$2,500. (old fine) Don't forget Pelosi's DUI, which was almost a pass by the Napa County D.A. Historically in Napa County wealthy DUI drivers were not only given a pass, but a drive home by the Sheriff. Yup. Just incredulous.

Do they have more pressing things to do at 2am- is that why they are at the local Dunkin Donuts at that time? NO- THEY NEED THE MONEY. This is clear to anyone with half a brain. My daughter died 2.5 years ago while driving drunk. She was 22. After 3 months passed I got the Medical Examiner’s Report. She was 0.18. Luckily she didn’t kill anyone else. She hit a tree going 100 mph in a Dodge Challenger. She and the car were both totally annihilated . There was nothing left of her body. Only parts. I count it as a blessing that her life ended very early before she had the chance to kill others. Her death is the only way she would have stopped. She wouldn’t listen to anyone or what they had to say. I’ve been a trucker the last 41 years and I’ve seen my share of tragic accidents on our highways . I’m so very sad for those little girls. ☹️

I was with a drunk driver and we wrecked. Just us, in a field but it was bad enough. It forever changed my life(I was paralyzed and after surgery could learn to walk again) and I’m so thankful it hurt me and not another family… I hate these hard lessons, because it’s never the drunk.

Such an unimaginable tragedy loss of these young children's mom and dad. No punishment fits this horrific crime. May the Lord be with those little girls as they grow up with so many un-answered questions. It's my hope that their Aunt has the strength those children are going to need as they grow into young adults. That any long distance family they may have come together for the welfare of these precious little children. My deepest condolences to all of the victims of this selfish crime. 😔

The whole family of illegal aliens was already being taken care of by taxpayers. Thankfully, the children were birthed on this side of the border so they will receive thousands in social security as well even though their parents didn't pay taxes. Thank goodness for the our American social welfare net.
