@jaredlucev27057 ай бұрын
@@TheQuota2001 that was the point of my joke, you have to drink insane quantities of non-alcholic drinks to get to it having an effect. I had a buddy in the army that took the cans of nonalcoholic beer back to the tents and froze them, so he could drain out the small amount that didn't freeze and save it up over time. It took him dozens and dozens of cans to get a single full can of actual alcohol out of it. So to hit a buzz off nonalcoholic wine he would have had to drink proportionally high quantities of it to have an effect. Realisticly the woman got likely two bottles at most and those were split over a whole dinner of people. There simply wouldn't have been enough liquid to share and still get him buzzed. He's simply lying about what he drank in a dumb way.

51:55 I received a felony over marijuana back in 1997 I was giving 5 years taken down to 6 months house arrest with monitor. 2 years probation 180 hours community service. Drug and alcohol classes. $2000 fine. I didn't miss any of these, I didn't rely on anyone to give me a ride, I pedaled my 10 speed bike to my house arrest Officer every Monday morning in the rain and some mornings at 15 degrees freezing my tail off, I pedaled my 10 speed bike to community service every Saturday, I pedaled my 10 speed to Drug and Alcohol classes at one point 3 times a week and I pedaled to see my Probation Officer once a month. I completed it all on my 10 speed bike 🚲. There's no excuse, there really isn't.

@@jamesrodgers3071 That's awesome work. I'm glad you did what you had to do to get through that and didn't make excuses. I've always told my children I would give them ONE free get out if jail... for almost anything. A hard no for me would be drunk driving or kiddie diddling. I'm a retired paramedic so they understand about DD. My two have never been in trouble, my stepson has and he just used his one and only get out of jail free, for something beyond stupid. He missed court on Mon, I found out he had bench warrant on Tues so I drove him to the jail to turn himself in Wed and pay his 2k bond. I only knew what to do from watching these court cases and that that was his best course of action. We see the judge tomorrow. His car broke down is why he missed court and will take 2-3 weeks to install a new engine. Told him I would be driving him to EVERY hearing on this issue until it's dismissed or sentenced so I get my money back... even if his car is running, he rides with me. He's missed court before for tickets so he thought missing this one wasn't that big of a deal. He learned this IS a very big deal, since it's a criminal misdemeanor not just a traffic ticket with fines. I know parents who think their children are innocent lil angels and refuse to admit they are not capable of doing some dumb $hit. I don't have those disillusion. However what he was charged with... he actually is innocent of. We have all the paperwork to back that up. Was even a good chance HAD he went to court that Monday, that case might have been dismissed. SMDH. He's also currently on probation (yup, he did what was charged there). He actually violated probation the very day he was sentenced for failing to check in immediately after court. He has checked in monthly since then and according to him, they never said a word about it. I only found out about that by doing a court name search. I consider his probation, probation lite. Only checks in once a month, NO UAs, is even "allowed" to smoke weed and drink, keep his guns, all *according to him.* He's an alcoholic, his charge was booze related. Not sure how abstaining from alcohol and weed was not part of his conditions?! Maybe they are... He has been known to lie... a lot. Like I said... I'm not disillusioned about my children. I love him but I'm also hoping the judge makes him do at least a weekend ... or two. He has gotten away with little slaps on the wrist since turning 18. Now that he's in his 30s he finding out what *real* accountability looks like for adults. For his sake and my grandchildrens, I hope he's finally getting it. He commented that while sitting in jail for 6 hours, waiting for me to post bond, it was a real eye opener, I sure hope so. Maybe I should take his dad's bicycle to him until his cars fixed?... I'd worry a lot to be honest. We live rural so everything is at least 15 miles away. Traveling over these little 2 lane roads with no paved breakdown area to stay out of 55mph driving lanes... I would probably worry way too much. While I was driving him to turn himself in, his "real mom" literally called and tried to talk him out of doing the right thing. What type of petty, loser parent, teaches their kids to do the wrong things... often? Yes, she's also a destructive alcoholic, who's undermined everything good his father and I tried to teach him when he was younger... and now. The fact that he sees her for who and what she is, only some of the time truly baffles me. She even talked him out of joining the military. The potentials she cost him... he'd won so many awards for his math skills until she'd came back into the picture. It feels like I'm walking a fine line between how much a person could or should step up and help family vs letting them suffer consequences for some really poor decisions they've made. In the past 5 months I've seen him finally do the right things and trying to get his life together. It's better late than never. If not for the "real mom", I believe he could have been a better everything he could be so much sooner. WoWzers, sorry that was so long ... it was cathartic though.

I have no excuse, but it WAS my fault", then Judge Simpson MIGHT NOT have remanded him. @xitheris17587 ай бұрын
While addiction is *not* an excuse for bad behavior, it *is* an excellent explanation. For those who've never had a strong addiction, it's a foreign concept. Imagine trying to go months without eating, when food is all around you. Intoxicants aren't food, but an addicted brain can't tell the difference. Breaking a severe addiction is literally as painful as starving to death. Study its effects on the brain. Things will then make a lot more sense, especially the denial-based coping mechanisms that develop. He seems incapable of admitting the truth because he *is* incapable of admitting the truth - at least without inducing cognitive dissonance, which can literally be as painful as electrocution. Addictions start as attempts to self-medicate for pain relief. They end up becoming a source of even more intense pain, one that grants temporary relief when you feed them. A legitimate addiction is like a psychological parasite that fires every pain receptor you have when you don't let it eat your mind. Eventually, you don't have a mind left, and there's no human anymore - only a possessed human body, driven by thoughtless instinct, incapable of reason. Death comes shortly thereafter. It's easier to deny that you have a problem, less painful to just let the decay happen. When addicted, life becomes nothing more than pain avoidance. Whether the pain of daily life, the pain of fighting addiction, or the pain of punishment. It's nothing but mindnumbing pain - at all times, in all places, without limit. Pain becomes as omnipresent as God. Active addicts *cannot* recover on their own, yet they present a real danger to anyone who would want to help them. Hence, one requires training and proper resources to help active addicts. It's a mental illness that requires extensive and often lifelong treatment. The treatment is rarely wanted at first, and when starting it, you usually have to justify violating what agency they appear to have left. That puts *you* on a slippery slope, morally speaking. It requires extraordinary powers to vested in people with good intentions. The road to hell is paved in good intentions. You have to watch yourself as much as those you treat. It's exhausting work. It's a very complicated issue. You really have to study it to understand it.

The parents both saw him choking their daughter and did nothing???? If my daughter had lived, she would have been 44 in April. If I witnessed someone harming her, 365 days from that day, he would have been dead for 1 year.

That was the biggest surprise to me as well. Father saw his daughter getting abused and hurt by her significant other and the abuser didn't go to the hospital as the result of the father's actions? Wow. The father must have some self control or just be too numb to his daughter's ongoing DV situation to care to do anything about it.

The judge is smart and knows some criminals might attempt to flee when they know they are getting held. So to avoid this Judge Simpson gives the Bailiff a signal to move behind them before he tells them they are going to jail. That way if they attempt to run, they run right into the big man himself. Whenever you hear the judge say “Mr. Allen” that is the signal.

Judge Simpson has his own channel where he streams his court live so you can technically “sit in” and listen all day. Just look up Hon J Cedric Simpson Live Feed channel. The PCC and landlord tenant dockets are the best. I tried listening to the criminal and D/V dockets and I was like oh no, I need the levity of the other days!

Doesn't surprise me, KZbin *hates* the truth and they are very biased on what they will censor vs what they won't (for example, they are fine letting channels that are politically aligned with them, even if they push violence, but channels that they are politically against and don't push violence, they will ban.)
