Bless his little heart. He thought the judge has a Rolodex full of court appointed lawyers that she can just pull out a new attorney for him since he doesn't like what his current court appointed attorney says. He actually wants a babysitter thinking that he gets to talk to his attorney every day. He doesn't understand the court system and even though the judge took the time to explain how it works for him, his feeble little mind still couldn't wrap his brain around it. Good luck with that, jailbird.

Imo, that womans addiction is still firmly in the driving seat. I believe she chose jail over treatment because there's the possibility of drugs being available in the jail. With the second case, it really didn't look like the lawyer wanted to keep representing him, either. I like that this judge lays everything out and explains things very well.

You can’t force treatment until they r ready. Speaking from experience. I’ve tried with my son. He’s been in and out of rehab and prison. My poor grandson has two donors who chose drugs over him. But that’s ok I got and have had sense he was 10 months old and he’s now 13. Drugs r bad

You are giving your grandson a chance! He is SO fortunate. I am sure it has been very difficult at times, for a number of reasons. Sadly, my understanding is that you are not alone; many grandparents in this country are raising grandchildren because of drugs.

My oldest daughter turned to drugs. I begged her to get help,but she refused to even admit to that addiction. It has been five years since I have heard from her. It's heartbreaking.

She's in denial. I have a close family member who was the same way for decades. Thankfully, that person has come to their senses and has done treatment and has been good for quite a while now. Maybe this girl will think things over while she's cooling her heels.

Yep, but only if it's one felony and it depends on what the felony is in order to be expunged. I do agree, dum-dum girl should have taken drug court. At least she would have a chance at learning how to stay clean, but when you are in D E N I A L she obviously wants to continue using.

@@jessicascott6413 That is correct, because there can only be one felony expungement. At least in NJ I believe that's how it works. If a person has more than one felony, not all are expunged.

I love that Judge Boyd infused her own personal battle, wow, so down to earth and raw. She's a great judge. I use to think the legal system was filled with biased Aholes all stuck in the same mindset until I began watching these KZbin hearings and found judges like Judge Boyd, Simpson & Stephen's.

I also really, really like Judge E. Lynise Bryant of 36th District Court in Michigan. You would probably like her also. She does not take what she calls "foolishness". From what she has indicated, she came from the same background as some defendants who come into her courtroom.

The Judge is Correct, the person getting treatment for addiction or (Substance Abuse Disorder) has to want to get better. It's harsh its scary. People think they are going to get out of addiction by going a softer easier way. A 12 step program is the softer easier way. It is not soft, it is not easy. It is difficult. I wish this woman the best. I hope she lives. I have many friends that did not survive addiction.

This was the most patient Ive seen Judge Boyd. She tolerates NO disrespect. I was shocked she gave her this much time to decide and how long she waited to 'make the decision for her ' From what i read in the chat Judge rarely gives the option leniently. It's usually automatic jail under the conditions of her parole violation

I’ve seen quite a few people in court choose the jail/prison time over the impatient treatment or the long probation period.. a criminal/drug addict just isn’t going to get through probation without violating so a lot of them choose the incarceration instead just do they get out and are off papers completely lol

By doing the smaller cases first. Just like in any other specialized field, you work your way up. A pilet isn't handed over big airliner on day one, or a doctor doesn't start performing surgeries right away.
