My brother was like that when his wife wanted them to go to marriage counseling. He told her he “was fine, but she should go to get herself straightened out”. His wife filed for divorce and he came whining to me about it. I was 100% on her side - I made him shut up and I told him exactly why I was on her side. Fast forward a few years. He has some neurological issues that negatively affect his day-to-day life and the doctors he sees have tried so many times to get him to see a psychiatrist and he just won’t do it. Finally, during a visit to the neurologist, the doctor decided to do the short-form memory/dementia test. My brother got 10 out of 30 questions correct … so now he HAS to have a 3 to 4 hour psychological neuro exam. He is fuming mad about it. I laughed in his face when he told me about it, because I’m not afraid to tell him he’s got anger issues and is definitely a narcissist. Some people are their own worst enemy.
@hsgaming3385Күн бұрын
@@ImOnAJourney I agree some people are really their own worst enemy. I hate this generation that says and blames everything on their trauma. But it can’t be ignored that some generational trauma ““ is a real thing such as growing up as a man seeing your dad be emotionally unavailable and such, to ultimately end up almost exactly like that. Not saying it’s anyones specific fault but we really do have to recognize the things we learned from societal norm. I think it would be better for a lot of men to be able to comfortably express themselves and not feel judged or emasculated. I feel like it would work out for themselves with being able to feel heard as a man and also be emotionally available to the wife and family They choose. I still struggle with communicating with my father who is from military background and refuses to show any type of emotion. It’s hard to see others be so close with their Fathers while mine I have to feel like I’m on the edge when speaking to him. It’s videos like this. I wish I could scream at the kid saying to take the opportunity because a lot of people don’t have that.

Whether he shows it or not, I suspect he loves you a great deal but he doesn’t know how to tell you. Possibly by you telling him every time you talk to him he might learn to let his guard down. You won’t know if you don’t try. My parents have been gone for almost 20 years. I miss them more and more every day. The son (defendant) is more composed and eloquent than the majority of litigants on _Judge Judy_ and _Judy Justice_ across all seasons. One of the very few litigants in the entire franchise who does not waffle around or hesitate and stutter when he responds to Judge Judy. The parents ought to feel proud that their son is such a respectful intelligent young man and should loosen the reigns and grant him more autonomy as he is now an adult. Using his dog as a pawn in a manipulative psychological rewards-punishment scheme to force him to comply with your directions is condescending to your adult son and unnecessarily cruel to the dog - a living breathing creature with real emotions, not an inanimate object such as a television or gaming console.

OMG! He was 18, just graduating from High School. Not in college yet. And the dog is good ESA for the boy. The father needs more therapy to be a father, not a control freak.

This Dad is doing the right thing. Only old schoolers 'get' him. The son isn't bad but he is quite immature. Mom probably lets him slide too often.

Y’all saying the dad’s a control freak are missing the point. He’s not trying to micromanage his son’s life; he’s stepping up when the world demands young adults to suddenly have it all figured out. His push for college isn’t about control, it’s about providing direction and a safety net during a critical time. Sure, enjoy hobbies like gaming and hanging with the dog, but Dad’s focus on responsibility shows he’s looking out for his son’s future, not just the now. W dad for sure.

This exact comment is why there is millions of people in student loan debt. He said he couldn’t afford it and grants don’t cover diddlly squat. In other countries a gap year is normal, let the kid figure out if he wants to go to college go to a trade military etc etc. he’s atleast working in the mean while and other comments said he ended up going to Florida college for cs. It’s not like he ain’t working at all Give a kid some breathing room as long as they are productive some way. Rather have a gap year than at hundred thousands dollars in debt for a major he hates.
@citytrees17522 сағат бұрын
You are completely missing the point. Wanting your son to go to college is not the issue here. The dad is using the courts to try to control his now-18-year-old son. He's trying to take away a beloved dog. The dad has problems. It has nothing to do with 'college'. Just because he wants his son to go to college doesn't mean he isn't doing his son dirty.

Gee Nicolas I wish my parents had cared enough like that. It’s even rare for men/dads to even be the ones to suggest therapy. Regardless I hope he knows his dad truly cares and loves him & is just trying to make a point of the principle of it all.
@carrotstikzers3 сағат бұрын
Therapy should not be used as an ultimatum, that wont help or fix anything that will just make people hate therapy
