As a civil engineer, I can tell you a skim coat is worthless and will crack off within a couple years. The guys rough finish was horrible! All he needed to do was provide a broom finish. That finish work was pathetic

She explains that in part 1. You cant have rubber cladding on a surface that is too rough. When water collects on a concrete floor it signifies very poor workmanship. The man obviously has no idea how to do flooring.

So first off you can’t just lay a skim coat of concrete over to make it smooth because it will not adhere to an already cured concrete pad, in time it will crack and chip off like the plaintiff said. Secondly, if the idea was to add a rubberized coat then the surface will be primed first with a leveling compound to help the coating adhere. Of course it would be ideal for the concrete foundation to be level first but I’m not convinced it is 100% necessary.

I agree Too Sense. I work in a hardware store and to help the ladies understand the characteristics of some adhesives I give them the example of fake fingernails. In order for them to stick, the natural fingernail surface is made rough with the emery board. Also, let's take note of the development of self-leveling attributes in products relative to these kinds of projects.

Is anyone here actually experienced in any sort of concrete work? I’m familiar with the rougher surface being needed for the adhesive to work better. But I have no background knowledge on whether or not the surface being uneven has any bearing on how the final layer will set. JJ’s explanation that it will sink to match the concrete makes sense. But at the same time, maybe there’s something that goes on in the process that accounts for that 🤷♂️

So many people saying JJ is being mean to the defendant, but the fact is that the contractor did a pretty poor job. He is good at talking his way out of problems, but the reality is that was a really crappy concrete pour. I suspect a lot of people are siding with him simply because he is handsome and polite. He still should have done the job he was contracted to do well.

People do that a lot. I think if someone is ugly they don’t care as much how JJ treats them. I disagree with Judy in the skin coat. Contractors don’t want to guarantee other people’s work, that’s why they don’t want it build off it. It makes perfect sense why they want to do that (beyond just more money).

@@kyoto32001 it shows he's a cowboy trader and nobody wants to hire someone like that. His work looked awful. Then we have the cheque made out to his girlfriend to avoid tax. I know people do cash deals for friends etc.. but he seems to think that is how to run a business normally and as an accountant nobody in a business gets a customer to give them a cheque to their personal bank account. In the eyes of the court he lost all credibility because of that. If he has no license how does he have insurance? That being said the woman wanted more than was fair, so to me it was a meeting of 2 scam artists, they deserved each other.
