As Judge Mathis stated, her father's drug addiction and abandonment cause her to have far fewer resources when entering into her adulthood. This is why JM asked the present state of his adult children. She would be better off in life to afford braces if not for his abandonment and non-provision. Most parents get their children bracelets while they are still children anyway.

Judge Mathis you have to be careful not to let your heart grow cold. I know you get tired of hearing the same story but as you know these drugs have done serious damage out here. It's ALWAYS a victory when someone overcomes their addiction

As black ppl we can't live in mediocrity. Mathis knew the story he was going to tell. So has we get caught in our emotions.

Judge Mathis be tripping sometimes I get his premise on trying to shame him because I’m a recovering meth addict and yea we do need to be shamed and embarrassed so we can realize the nature of our wrongs to all the people we harmed but that N.A. chain I wouldn’t gave that up because he earned that by abstaining from drugs

JM embodied the underlined issue that many has with the court system in this case, it sadly became personal with the defendant from the very beginning

My dad had 12 kids and I didn't meet him till I was 16, he died when I was 23 by a bullet to his head.... I wish my mom actually carefully planned who my father was going to be because I'm left with all of this.

Wait... So, if my relative told me they would give me 400 bucks for whatever reason, and ended up not giving me the money... I can sue them? Hmmmm.. That's like asking a fake Santa for an iPad... he says "as long as you're a good boy"... and then not getting an iPad for Christmas. See you in court, Santa! lol 🎅
