When she said they played at big mammas house she didn't realize she was black then. Thats an African American term, like sistah and bruh! That with her light skin made me think she was a light skin black women. I've got lots of light skin black relatives and they are all black peoples.

It sounds as if the issue with her son is that she never discussed her Black ethnicity with him and that they evidently lived as White people in a White environment. That's another interesting part of this story.

The fact that they'd never had the conversation or cultural connections, "big momma" etc...is slightly odd as well. Maybe her mother is white and her father is black so the child has only been exposed to one side.

Its always someone’s messy, low-budget family with speculation and rumors about whether or not someone is related to them, AS IF they’re worth being related to. Get a test if you need clarity, but the gossip and speculation and mistreatment of the “child” in the situation annoys me because it’s grown peoples fault that the child is in that predicament. The only one that’s innocent is the child, so why mistreat them?! Bet they weren’t side eyeing her father, but wanna side-eye her. Do better Most importantly though, I loveeee how beautifully he spoke about his sister, him always loving her and even as an adult defending her. A bond that can never be broken. ♥️

If they lived in an all-white or predominately White environment, I see the possibility that it wouldn't even occur to him. If her son's father is White and the only grandparents that he knows are White, it's plausible that it didn't even cross his mind.

The fact her son doesn't know she's part black means she didn't tell him or instill in him his history and heritage... I was all for the case and I'm glad they're actually related but the uncle needs to visit his nephew Stat cause he's obviously lost and it's not his fault.. I did ask my father along time ago, when I was an adult & he met my children, his grandchildren. He, being from Texas, a small town, was raised very secretive, & said it was nothing he would talk about with his girl, that was man’s business is what he said to me. Now, I feel at 62yrs., it’s not important & if my dad was the man on the certificate, he never sought me out. I feel the only man to acknowledge me, although he & my mother divorced, & he wasn’t, always around. He was the dad I knew & loved.

I feel sorry for people that think they're parents are infallible and have literally NEVER lied to them. Parents do whatever they can to protect their children. Even if that means lying. Don't agree? Santa Claus is the prime example.

Santa Claus is nowhere near the same as paternity and aren’t even “lied” about for the same reasons…It makes absolutely no sense to compare the two and if a parent is willing to lie about paternity it’s not to “protect” the child but themselves from having to tell the truth to everyone-the child, or children, included.

@@GreekYogurtGranola As an adult, I do not celebrate Christmas at all. However, as a child, my parent never instilled in me the fairytale of Santa Claus. I went along with the Santa Claus story (i.e. be nice, not naughty, etc), but I always knew that it was my parents buying the gifts.

Judge Mathis, I can understand her point of view. I, too, had what I believed was my natural born father. I now know, that on my birth certificate is listed another man’s name. I never knew this, nor had my birth certificate until the death of my mother. I learned a lot after my mother died. For example, my mother was raped as a child, by her own father. My brother, was a cop, in West L.A., so he provided death & birth certificates, stating my father’s name.

I couldn't do this. Sometimes it's best to leave it alone. There's no law for any parent to be involved with their children. Yeah it's very wrong but if you don't know and you start seeking truths just expect some lies too or cover ups. Mom's hands aren't clean so have the same energy with her. This entire thing shoulda been handled way before now. After years and years have passed what water is it holding?
