the 718 has a resonator in the center who puts sound in the cabin. thats also a reason why it sounds different ;) both fabulouse cars

Got to say the surprise of it all... I had no idea the keys would be offered to me. I do believe the cabin interior spec is important, it lends that element of dramatic theatre to the whole process. I’m learning to appreciate them for what each has to offer. Love the external styling on the 718 GT4 more now I’ve spent time with it.

Yes I can agree with that, I guess the new exhaust filters have muted the sound too much or my taste but there again if you can afford a new 718 then I guess you could always afford an aftermarket exhaust. At the end of the day I would love either. I for one think they are the best pound for pound sports car on the road.. A real life Mohamed Ali 😂

Tom Ingrassia Images I had no idea the GT4 owner would lend me the keys!! It’s an amazing vehicle, from start to finish. However after the excitement of the day wore off, and reality set in, the truth started to hit home... Sadly I can’t afford one. It would be reckless to purchase one on finance (even if I got an allocation which isn’t happening), while I still have a mortgage on the house. I just consider myself so grateful in life, that through setting this channel up 3 years ago, dealing with double digit subscribers for a long time which wasn’t motivating, I kept persevering in what I believed in, and heck, here I am now ;-) Enjoying Life & Cars... TO THE MAX!!

Above list for a 981 GT4 is still good value. GT cars have odd pricing structures. E.g. 992 GT3 is easily double list now, so will still be above list in 10 years time! 718 GT4 was produced in higher volume than the 981 GT4

Nicholas scallan I’m based in the UK, and I can already see several for sale on Autotrader. Some actually being sold via OPCs!! Seems to be more flippers on the 718 GT4 than the original 981 GT4 so far.

Is it really close to 100Ks difference though in terms of steering You: so direct Me: surely every car is direct; otherwise we’d end up veering off into the garden hedge soon as we pull away. So, parking the buzz of it, pragmatically speaking, and not withstanding the technology, but does it really ‘feel’ like £100k? I can’t help but think a 930 Turbo at £100k would be far more of an exciting ‘feeling’.

Ever drive a Ford F250? I have both a Cayman S and an F250. I often wonder if the steering wheel in the F250 has anything to do with the direction the tires are pointing.

I don’t think you can compare a car built in the 80’s like a 930 Turbo to a new 718 GT4. Suspension and components have come a long way. If you’re emotionally connected to the 930 Turbo, that’s fine. It just wouldn’t stack up in terms of engineering and build quality. However you’re right, for an average person, £100k is a stupid amount of money. Trust me, I’m not a wealthy guy... but the GT4 is SUCH a great car, it just makes you want to sell your internal organs to get one!

MAX REVS yep I get that it’s like comparing apples with oranges, but I am not convinced, even for those who are more into modern Porsche’s that it ‘feels’ £100k. Personally I regard the 930T as a far superior a car and will appreciate in value, whereas the 718GT4 value is only going to go one way, downwards. But then again, those that have that amount of money likely don’t get phased by such depreciation. That said, I feel the 718E is the one to hold out for. I am biding my time until that comes out.

@@julian987r4 did you ever owned an old car? Especially really old 911 have to be exeptionally well looked after. That is a part of the experience but it is in a complete other world in Terms of running costs. Depreciation is a fator but if you look at the prices today of a 930 they´ve fallen dramatically from about 2 years. Both are for sure extremly nice cars but have fun doing a few thousand mile road trip in a 4-gear car that drinks about 25-30 litres per 100km.
