Judges was an awesome book and definitely had its sad moments or moments where you just shake your head. Sadly a lot of this is going on in America

I agree!! This whole book the chapters make you twist your face in different directions and shake your head at the repeated disobedience. That’s how the world is looking today.

I don’t understand how this loophole is just fine?
@2BeLikeChrist Жыл бұрын
I don't think the loophole was an honest one. I don't think the text is necessarily condoning it... just describing what the Israelites chose to do.

Check out that last verse. “In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.” Judges 21:25 NLT In the past couple of chapters we read about some gruesome, dark things. Please read this verse and know that it was born from the darkness in man’s heart not from the words of God.

yet they go to the house of god and get advice on how to proceed with battle - God isn't reported as saying one word against a) sending about a concubine to be raped to death b) the likely loss of innocent life when the tribe of Benjamin is attacked and the city burned - which is reported by the text "women and children and animals", c) lack of consent of the women who would be kidnapped in order to provide brides for men of benjamin whom they would kill (all of which god himself would supposedly have foreknown)@@2BeLikeChrist

@@MidlyJadisexactly, there making there own decisions and there own choices. They didn’t ask God for guidance, and throughout the book you see when they don’t ask God for help, it leads to disaster

It is recording history truthfully. We may not like the truth, but there it is in graphic detail.

Why cut her up?
@bradjacobs1844Ай бұрын
King Saul cut up a yoke of oxen and sent it out to all Israel as a call to war (1Sam 11:4-8). The Levite did a similar thing with his concubine to call the Israelites to gather them together against the tribe of Benjamin.
