Hey man, thanks for the review! I watched this from behind the sofa lol, but you were very fair and I'm pretty happy with my score there! 💪💪 Glad you appreciate the Matrix vibes, that's kind of what I'm going for... though I couldn't really tell you why! I thought your example of slapstick humour was hilarious - maybe I should experiment with that a bit 🤣 And yes that was my first response video - and possibly only! Only reason being that you made an interesting argument in a considered way, so I thought it was ripe for a debate. That said, it was also a good opportunity to respond to some more general criticisms that are present in (sometimes less articulate) videos. You're right, I could probably share more of my personality/chat a bit more. Usually the reason I don't is, like you say, the videos tend to be more like essays and it doesn't tend to fit the vibe. To be clear: my stance on nootropics is that people *shouldn't* take them. The brain is far too complex to be hacked and we're much better off with a balanced diet and perhaps a few natural nutrients (magnesium, vitamin D, omega 3) to support optimum brain health. I have spoken about them a fair bit in the past, though. Mainly because I just find that stuff fascinating! So again, totally fair! Great research with that old Bodybuilding.com competition! I am reeling right now from the fact that that was over 18 years ago, though... All good food for thought, anyway! Glad I'm off the hook 😅 Will be intrigued to see who you cover next!

@KurokamiNajimi
@KurokamiNajimi 2 жыл бұрын
The way I look at things is how accurate is the info and what is this person offering relative to other people. You can find little useful things from watching a variety of people but in terms of who provides the most revolutionary content overall I don’t really see an argument for Alpha Destiny and Bald Omni Man not being over the others. Whenever I see ppl talk about how great someone is all that happens is I check them out, know 90% of what they’re talking about or just don’t find it all that relevant, and disagree with half of it. One other guy I think is preaching a couple things that usually aren’t said is Basement Bodybuilding. I disagree with some of what he says but the emphasis on not sleeping on smaller movements and weight itself not important for hypertrophy is good though even that is dependent on you not being able to deduce those things on your own. I’m not sure what BOM’s position is on this but this is one of the few things I disagree with AD on. I see NH and Alec Enkiri preaching the same thing. That progression in load equates to progression in growth but there’s literally no reason to think that. Progressive overload in weight is not the driver of hypertrophy, what causes growth is the muscle doing lots of quality reps. The reason we add weight is to maintain relative intensity. One problem I can see ppl running into though is you tell them let it happen naturally and then they end up undergoing a stimulus they have long since surpassed bc it’s hard for many to tell the difference between 2-1 RIR vs 0

I don’t think so tbh, would even go as far to say from what I’ve seen I’ve learned nothing useful or that relative to other channels I’d recommend they’re worth checking out. It’s interesting to see everyone’s different prospectives. I see NH takes points off if he thinks someone has a slight strength bias and in the case of RP is adding points based on the focus on the channel I guess. When I think what do I give x person in programming (and what I’m thinking most in the comments are thinking from what I’ve seen) is how optimal is the approach is. Then you get into evidence of your approach being optimal

To defend the dr Mike fanboys….I feel like calling people “doctor”, whether or not they are actually a doctor or what type, is very much an American thing. A lot of it stems from American phd/md’s actually insisting that people call them “dr.” even in casual social situations. “I didn’t study such and such for so many years to be called ‘Mr.’!” On top of that, “Mike” is an extremely common nickname in the states, perhaps like “Pierre” being an extremely common name in France, so people call him “dr” cause it’s easier than the full name. TLDR Americans are lazy and proud 🥲

Really enjoyed this one! The Bioneer & Bald Omni Man are two personal favorites of mine not only because of their deep knowledge & experience, but because they’re also really great guys. I didn’t realize Jeremy’s channel was so young. While there are occasionally some helpful things beginners can pick up from his videos, there’s far more seemingly unintentional misinformation shared on his channel that seems to be due to a lack of actual knowledge & experience, not properly researching the topic being presented, and/or bad script writing for his content by his team. He’s also particularly bad at reading off a script, which makes his content hard to watch at times despite the great production quality.

His RP critique is extremely based. He’s literally Reddit incarnate. He and his followers need a study proving/validating everything they do or say. Additionally, he’s terminally online. Some suggestions for part VI or later: John Meadows, Vitruvian Physique, Revival Fitness, Scooby1961, Team 3d Alpha, Peter Khatcherian, FitnessFAQs, Enkiri Elite Fitness, Basement Bodybuilding, Stand Strength, Steve Shaw, Vegan Gains (Now that he did not include Blablina), Squat University, Gravity Transformation, ScottHermanFitness, Noel Deyzel. What score would you guys put on them? Too bad Bloho didn't make it, I was already sensing a 0 on signority and dogmatism, and a -1 on phisyque.

BOM is an incredible fitness channel Also I would personally rate Bioneer's physique higher, he's almost goal body to me, peak husbando mode, he looks very dense, and the blocky abs + upper chest/shoulder girdle really add a lot to his aesthetics. I'd even go as far as to say that he is what I think of when you describe the Berserker physique.

Barbell Medecine. Dogmatism 0/10, if it's not peer reviewed, it's false or it doesn't exists. Originality 2/10, basically Starting Strength but with a slight twist.

@@antoninb.6735 And that's the correct way to go about it, if your "opinion" or "research" is not peer reviewed then it has absolutely zero value or any sort of worth, sorry that this type of thinking hurts your feelings but it's the best way. BBM gives out far better advice than almost every other shmuck I've seen on this platform and I am sure that's due to this "dogmatic" approach they use. And also there are like more than 5 billion different things that Jordan heavily disagrees on with Mark and SS, which is one of the reasons he focused on BBM fulltime in the first place. Your opinion 0/10, you don't know what you are talking about and it's not peer reviewed

RP's content and their books have been huge for me. Learned a ton from them and I'm a big supporter of their work, but I completely agree that RP fanboyism is growing at an alarming rate. I find myself quite often checking myself to make sure I'm agreeing with Mike because I actually agree, not just because I usually do and he's speaking confidently.

I disagree with his (and many others) take on the classic compounds being bad or inferior for hypertrophy. If you want to modify a lift like larsen press, belt squat, etc that’s one thing but when you start excluding exercises entirely you’re going down the wrong path. Also don’t like that the idea of training for size and strength are vastly different. I feel like the community is devolving in these ways. The arguments ppl use for that is always based around interchanging powerlifting with strength training. Powerlifting is just hyperspecialization on 3 lifts. The real difference between strength and size is just that strength obligates you to use a 1 rep max. Blocks are also a really bad practice, especially when concurrent periodization exists. I don’t think most really understand that it makes 0 difference to your long term strength if you go x amount of years never strength peaking and the deciding you want to. You’re not gaining any extra strength from blocks you’re just wasting time building less muscle which makes you WEAKER

I have suspected Brian Alsruhe uses steroids, not only because he has such a jacked physique despite only getting 4 hours sleep per night, but he has been closely associated with steroid users. Best example is that says he was close friends with professional strongman Mike Jenkins who died in 2013 from an enlarged heart caused by steroid use. Do I think it really matters if Brian Alsruhe is on the juice? Not really if he isn't claiming natural. But I do have issue with steroid users who downplay the effects of PEDs.
