No, it was not 'literally stolen'. The government of India has itself conceded that it was a gift, and was not stolen. The Kohinoor was a trophy obtained by the British following their victory in the Anglo-Sikh war. There was an explicit provision in the peace treaty that gave ownership of the diamond to the British crown. Which is pretty much the explanation for the ownership of the infamous diamond for most of it's history. Of it's long long history, it was in the ownership of this particular Indian dynasty for just 30 years, that Indian prince's grandfather gaining it by demanding it 'as a gift' from the last of an Afghan/Persian dynasty, who's ancestors themselves came into possession of it after looting it from the treasury of a Mughal emperor. And the story continues... It's an entirely double standard to say that Queen Victoria 'literally stole it' from a dynasty that also literally stole it from a dynasty that literally stole it. The Indian government does, as I say, acknowledge that it was a gift not stolen, even though they still want it back. But then Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran also also want it back...
