Dame Judi Dench DID deserve the Oscar for her role, her scenes, her presence was so powerful! She is excellent in every role she does! Among others she was also nominated for Notes On A Scandal which she should have also won for, sadly she didn't . She was beyond amazing in that one!

gain al Yes very true. She certainly wasn't the best in 2001 and 2005 and rightfully lost but still they are winning performances. As for Notes on a Scandal, Helen Mirren certainly was very Very deserving but I believe that Dench's haunting lead performance was superior and should have won. But that's not what disappoints me. What disappoints me is that that Helen Mirren won every single award that year whereas Judi won absolutely nothing despite giving such a remarkable performance. But anyways she sure as well should have won for Mrs Brown and in many ways this was a make up Oscar for snubbing her the previous year.

I actually thought Dame Judi's performance in Shakespeare was really powerful and she deserved this Oscar. She stole every scene she was in, her screen presence is off the charts.
