How did everyone in that audience not stand up on their feet for the remarkable actress that is Judi Dench?
@musicaltheatergeek799 жыл бұрын
***** Believe it or not, Dench was not the respected actress she is now. This was only her second Oscar nomination, at age 64. She had been practically unheard of in the US until the previous year, when she got her first nomination for MRS. BROWN. Up until then, she had been mainly a mainstay on British television. But then in the new millennium, she got a slew of Oscar nominations: CHOCOLAT (2000), IRIS (2001), MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS (2005), NOTES ON A SCANDAL (2006), PHILOMENA (2013). I guarantee you that if she were to win again, she would get a standing O.

@MrAkashvj9610 жыл бұрын
gain al Yes very true. She certainly wasn't the best in 2001 and 2005 and rightfully lost but still they are winning performances. As for Notes on a Scandal, Helen Mirren certainly was very Very deserving but I believe that Dench's haunting lead performance was superior and should have won. But that's not what disappoints me. What disappoints me is that that Helen Mirren won every single award that year whereas Judi won absolutely nothing despite giving such a remarkable performance. But anyways she sure as well should have won for Mrs Brown and in many ways this was a make up Oscar for snubbing her the previous year.
