Teddy was definitely in attack mode he dominated mikhaylin in grips and just grit toughness i would not be suprized if they met again in the olympics,teddy is the best judo fighter in the world in his weight class by far especially since kosei inoue retired!!!

Whoever steps up to defeat Mr. Riner will advance technical Judo. No one will be able to overpower him for a long time.

I don't think I've ever seen Mikhaylin angry like that in a Judo match before. Seemed like he was standing and stepping over Riner on purpose.

At 9:19 did the russian shoot a single? they have singles and doubles in judo? I read that at its best, judokas have takedowns up to par with high level wrestlers (freestyle and greco) and submissions up there with bjj guys. is this true and who would be an example of this skill set?

i am always trying to learn about all of the martial arts but i dont really understand judo. I understand that there is stand up and ground work, throws and submissions. Why dont u see much mat work/submissions in the olympics? I always hear about judokas having great submissions but in judo competition its all stand up/throws. how do high level judokas train? what % submissions what % throws? how would a guy like tedy do in a submission grappling comp like ADCC?
@yzm06
@yzm06 7 жыл бұрын
if you fail a throw you have 20 seconds on the ground to do a submission or hold for 20 seconds your opponent on his back.

Roger Gracie would lose to most of the judokas of his weight, following judo rules, not only to Teddy. Well, Teddy is uyndefeated for 2 years, last time on ref decision after overtime, before that during 2008 Olympics. And he's so much better now, at age 23. How would Roger bring him to the ground ? He is 30kg lighter. He would simply fly around, landing on his shoulders most of the time. Obviously Riner is not interested in Jiu Jitsu.

He did the same hip toss over and over. His technical skillz are horrible but he does know the mind game hes to tall and way more muscle than his opponets. This was alot closer in size, but he wins on size and strength and conditioning. Technical wise he could go back to yellow belt. Hes been just pulling poeple to the ground and they jist cant stop it. So its not skill fasho just the knowledge to defend and then jist beast mode yellow belt engaged!!! Lol
