@Daniel Sullivan Thank you sir! I edit the videos with Magix Vegas, for graphics (circles, arrows, lines etc.) I use anything I find in free online picture databases. If I need something more in depth I use "Kinovea" sports video analysis tool, but my videos don't go that deep, so I rarely use it.
@@decodingjudo-grapplerkingd5486 Initially, my work and training schedule changed, leaving me less time to work on videos. More recently, I've begun graduate school, so I have even less time haha. I'm really happy to hear my videos were impactful for you! Even though I can't train much judo right now, I get a lot of joy from watching your videos :D

Great breakdown. The momentum from the leg does not travel up the chain though (you can try pushing or kicking your leg against a wall, your upperbody won't travel through the wall as a consequence of the wall blocking the leg). A kickboxer would fall flat on their face when kicking someone if the momentum travelled up from the blocked leg and projected the upperbody forwards. Your whole body's momentum is forwards (the upperbody and mass center in particular since there's the pull on the shoulders) and your balance point has shifted over the blocked foot so since you can't lay it down further to support, you tip over. In fact your leg only moves to find a new support point for the upperbody that's being pulled over the mass center, otherwise it wouldn't even move but be anchored to the ground. It's not very relevant to the subject, but having the physics not off is nice.

@fredericdambach68835 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this very interesting video. Vieru performed a brilliant taiotoshi at Paris. I have read carefuly your analisys, but I don’t agree with it. I will try to explain my point of view and why, what you consider as flaws, are on the contrary necessary for this type of taiotoshi (please forgive my poor english) In your analysis you compare Vieru’s taiotoshi to a « standart golden taiotoshi ». But, is « standart taiotoshi » the only way to perform taiotoshi ? in all the situation ? is « standart taiotoshi » the best way to perform taiotoshi in every situation ? To answer theses question I will analyse Vieru’s taiotoshi using what, I believe, is an absolute criteria : « Kuzushi, Tsukuri, Kake ». By absolute criteria I mean that to perform a technic efficiently, you must respect these 3 steps : Kuzushi, Tsukuri, Kake. (Kuzushi means « destroy uke’s position », Tsukuri « construct a good position », and Kake « apply the technic. ») Of course some people might say : « i don’t need to make a Kuzushi, I just lift the guy, and threw him » This why I add « efficiently ». My hypothesis (which is also Kano’s 😊) is that using the minimum of energy requires these 3 steps. I don’t say that these 3 steps must be performed in that order. Sometimes Tsukuri is made before Kuzushi, sometimes both are made at the same time, and sometimes Tori does not perform Kuzushi, it is Uke that does it on his own (in « barai » for exemple). Nethertheless these steps are needed. Kuzushi in Vieru’s taiotoshi : the Kuzushi is made by a Kosotogake feint. Uke reacts by retreiving his left leg backwards and toggle forward .This feint allows Vieru to step on the side, doing part of the Tsukuri at the same time. This action-reaction is very different from a standard taiotoshi form. In a standard taiotoshi form (I agree with you) Tori pulls up Uke’s sleeve to put Uke on his ball of feet (but it s an action not a action/reaction) but in vieru’s case his kuzushi is made by Kosotogake feint that allows him to step on the side and make Uke off-balance at the same time. Tsukuri : Vieru complète his Tsukuri by putting his blocking leg. At the same time he pulls with his left hand down and look down as well. (That’s already his final Kake position). You noticed that Vieru right leg is rather high. This is a good way to prevent Uke from stepping other. This leg play the role of the stick in the video where the girl fall other. As Uke’s foot will bump into the blocking leg Tori does not need to put his weight on the blocking leg BUT, on the contrary, in that case Tori left hand must pull DOWN (and not up) other wise Uke would get a chance to jump other the blocking leg. (and his right hand does not pull up but on the side and then down) To resume, on a standart tai-otoshi Tori lift uke’s right sleeve to put him on his ball of foot. At the same time as uke’s right foot should not move (Uke should not be able to step forward) Tori must put all the weight of Uke on his foot. To do that Tori put his own weight on his blocking leg. But here the kuzushi makes Uke move forward (like the girl in the video) and the blocking leg plays the role of the stick for the girl. For the Kake, Vieru looks down in the direction of the throw (direction of his left hand) In conclusion, we cannot compare Vieru’s taiotoshi and standart taiotoshi. There are simply two different forms. ..and in my opinion standart taiotoshi is so diffcult to perform on stong competitors that it is (almost) never used in competition.

Sir, you are totally on point. I honestly messed up with this video. I wanted to show the basics (traditional aspects of Tai Otoshi), but the example is not entirely traditional, therefore I made some generalised statements that doesn't entirely fit the video narrative. You make some great points about technique, actually, initially I wanted to include some of points you are making, but decided to go different way to fit the narrative. Sorry, still haven't found the perfect style and template of how to make this type of videos, I'll try not to make such mistake next time. Thanks for remarks!
