Honda, last year, was 2nd at the World Juniors and won the World Cadet. Dominated the high school scene in Japan this year, but finished 3rd in the All Japan Juniors. Her judo reminds me of Yoshida Tsukasa, and considering Honda and Yoshida are from Keiai Koukou I think there's something there. Kihara is very strong too, now a first year university student at Tokai, was pretty dominant at the High School/Junior (won the All Japan Juniors in 2022 and 2023) level but lost to Takeichi at the final of the this year's All Japan Juniors (If I'm not mistaken their H2H is like 4x1 to Kihara). Last year he finished 5th at the World Juniors, so it was nice seeing him win this time.

That makes two consecutive junior world title for Auchecorne, I'd like to see her more in the senior events.

You got me to become a fan of Takeichi. Can you explain how come Japanese women lose strength when they go up in weight? Usually that's the most guaranteed way to make your strength go up. It's cool to see the Chinese in judo too, I've been wondering how come I just about never see Chinese in judo. Honda's finish was really cool though, it's as if she just decided to walk through Tao, driving away. I suppose Russo's downfall was the commitment to go in so far that she ended up on the knees, that's an unfortunate thing to see. Cool to see an Indian judoka in the medal matches as well. I like seeing countries not as traditionally up there show up. But these juniors are really kicking the gears up, beware seniors.

I think it’s just a frame thing. The Japanese girls generally hold a bit more fat and don’t cut as much weight

@@JudoHighlights2015 I see, thanks for making a guess on the reasons, I could see that play out. Potentially they're not in place to fill it up with muscle as easily as some other people (it could very well be that PEDs also allow some athletes make more effective weight class jumps up).
