I heard the same from a few Olympic coaches at the village, upward trajectory only, and counter as well.

Great judo from Nakano, but tbf to Saito, not the strongest field. Against Bashaev in Portugal, Nakano was completely dominating the fight but got caught by Bashaev's Sode. Against Kim in Paris, Kim looked better. Ota also looking good this year in spite of his early exit at the World Championship. He beat Kim twice this year. Also, did you have a look at the All Japan Juniors? It's not going to be as strong of a team as last year but still got some exciting guys (Fukuda, Kawabata, Kihara, etc). Though some of the guys who could still participate didn't even show up like Hattori, Tanaka, the -66kg Fukuda, Arai, Izawa, etc.

Aren't those guys you mentioned at the end there no longer in the age bracket for the juniors?

@@JudoHighlights2015 Yeah, some of them are participating in the 学生体重別, which is happening in the same timeframe as the World Juniors. And some are probably just preparing themselves for the last stretch of the year with the 講道館杯 + Tokyo Grand Slam.

Is kanamaru not coaching anymore? Or did Akimoto replace him
@reymysterio13__502 ай бұрын
In the National Team, Akimoto replaced him. Kanamaru still coaches at his club.

Agree, NAKANO looks to have the potential whereas (unfortunately) SAITO has been uninspiring.

You know things are very bad when they're thinking about bringing back leg grabs. That would be just one part of the revival, head diving should also be allowed-it's a natural move-and maybe the scoring could be tweaked to better reward ippons and technique execution
