@@marjanijudge1764 ... Bruce Lee's statement was a powerful one and very accurate. Teddy is one of the few champions who has proved traditional judo. In my opinion, I wish we could see more champions of traditional. I myself was raised in traditional but once I made the USA National team many years ago, some traditional but a lot of variations was being worked into the training as well.

Teddy is simply a good Judo player. For those wondering, Judo looks easy but I assure you it is not. In this video, you will see Teddy has a specific move he has mastered. Not always, but often. And his opponents are the best of who they represent! Watch how he often gets control of the left sleeve and AGGRESSIVELY attacks the right collar (lapel) of the opponent. Gaining advantage by getting his opponents off balance, he gains the advantage and sweeps the leg. Just watch, it’s his signature move and no one has an answer for it! What you may not realize is the aggressiveness of how he attacks the collar! On each side of the neck is a nerve known as the “bracheal plexus”. He may, or may not, hit that pressure point as he grabs the collar to gain balance to his advantage. Attacking that specific area of the collar, side of the neck, can momentarily stun his opponent for just a fraction of a second to execute the move. No joke. Just watch the aggressiveness. It’s not illegal, it’s great Judo!!!

@@saporob People are not born equal about their body, but Teddy Riner techniques was very good, fast and clean. Being tall, big, and strong means nothing in martial arts, just look at Ip Man (master of Bruce Lee). It is all about hard and long trainings experiences.

@MrAlepedroza 4 жыл бұрын
@@djorksolo8544 The IP man was an exception, if we assume his semi legendary feats were even real of course. Its 2020 mate, size and strength DO matter a lot, believing the contrary is just a pre internet, make believe pipe dream of martial arts nerds who never sparred. Bruce Lee could do nothing about his height, but he always trained to be as strong, ripped and fast as he could be. He never underestimated physicality. Technique is only as useful if it adapts to the martial artist's body, and it only magnifies your already existing physical attributes. It doesn't create power out of nowhere.

I am happy in a way to no longer be in teddy riners weight class. I remember being the lightest and one of smallest in his weight class in International tournaments after being selected for the national team at 18 years old (just getting out of junior divisions) going up against people like former Olympian Deway Mitchell, International championships like Shannon gibbons , frank Nolen and other big guys. Teddy would beat Deway pretty easy today and I had no chance against against him. I looked like a white belt lmao 😂🤣. Teddy would of killed me 🤣. Teddy is very strong , anyone could see that as his techniques can't hardly be stopped. I think I only seen one match that he had a hard time against but I forgot who that was with. It was either 2012 or 2016 Olympics for the gold.

Guy even cares for the safety of his opponents, I know nothing about Judo but he seems very careful not to hurt anyone

younger he sometimes abused when doing soto gari which more looking like a low kick than judo... but as he upgraded his strengh, he got also smoother on that, and it gets even more impressive... like... opponent just flip in the air and it looks like teddy doesnt even force (using more it s arm muscles than the leg impact, than before)

size as slower ? as impossible or almost to get under the opponent ? if size was the most important, they would be basketball player doing it... Teddy would flip Shak if he tried judo
