I literally came to say the same thing. I hope someone in the IJF is listening. The problem is I think stalling. You don’t want to stand up again so you just try to keep things on the ground. It seems to me though that a “penalty” for a bad throw attempt can be getting taken advantage of on the ground. But I do wonder if the need a separate clock or something.

@@r.schwarz192 Nah...BJJ doesn't award for ippon. BJJ awards for butt scooting, and crazy leglock butt scooting fighting. And then more butt scooting, with more crazy leg butt scooting. It's like watching two toddlers fight, effective, but not fun to watch.

Unfortunately, Olympic sport is more about a crowd watching it and getting thrilled, than the sport as it is. It's the spectacle sport. Just see in the comments here, people mocking what is in the video.

É o mesmo Judô olímpico, mas os atletas foram logo ao ne-waza quando foram ao solo e aí, o juíz não podia intervir , o que só ocorre quando não há ação.

Hieu Dinh I agree to a certain extent . More often then not I see a bunch of drop knees or throws with so much momentum it lands the thrower in a bad position . Sure he/she got the ippon but at what cost ?

At 0:21 is wonderful. Osaekomi? Yes ok but we get kansetsu waza ashi gatame to it and ippon will be faster.

Japan is the origin of bjj. If it was not for japanese immigrants coming to Brazil I doubt bjj would exist. It would still be all newaza.

Until the 50's there is no difference in Brazil between Judo e Jiu-Jitsu.It was the same art.The rules make the arts split up.I train Jiu-Jitsu.Calling it BJJ is an American thing.

Plently of japanese beat brazilians guys on the ground. My fav is kikuda sanae a kosen judo guy who won the 2001 adcc champions and beat renzo gracie two and lost once.

At best these are BJJ blue belts, just terrible ground game, you judo guys are always crying and getting butt hurt with the history and where Brazilian jiu jitsu came from, I can see judo is stuck WAYYYYY in the past. Just terrible to watch.

Like I said only high level contest browns n blacks at Bjj would win Vs Olympic judokas in a submission match a lot of judokas do bjj as well. Including me. They even have an in house bjj club at one of the UK's top judo contest clubs
