His performance at the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo was such that we believe he has reached the peak of his strength. After a long break after the Tokyo Olympics, he made a comeback with more physical strength, and I felt he finally reached a full performance where his technique, fitness, and mindset were integrated. Sorry for my bad English.

Hasn’t he competed in like the Kodokan cup and the Japan invitational judo championships by weight? Maybe you covered it already though but I know he competed in them a couple of times between like 2014-2019

I'm probably wrong as it was a while ago, but I believe he took a long pause in international competition after the 2016 olympics to focus on the open weight japan championship and also for his 5th dan, that's probably why he had to fight on the 1st round of the 2018 osaka gs.
@JudoHighlights20157 ай бұрын
If you look at my previous video, he was competing pretty frequently up until then.

Some people skip the first round only if the number of judoka is not a power of 2. If, for instance, there are 16 or 32 or 64 judoka, nobody gets a bye and even the top seed starts in round 1. When some get a bye, top seeds are prioritized.
