Ashi waza is not determined by grips foot placement and direction are what defines each technique

15:40 More like Kosoto Gari? I could also agree with de ashi, but with how perpendicular they are it looks like picture perfect kosoto gari to me.

Man I’ve got a thing with grips dictating how I define moves. I should probably research this a bit more

@@JudoHighlights2015 haha I'm certainly not an authority. I just tend to remember the kodokan drawings.

the main difference between sasae and hiza garuma is the direction of kuzushi. Hiza has a big wheeling motion, kuzushi is around, for sasae kuzushi is more directly towards yourself.
@JudoHighlights20152 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure I like this vague explanation. I might just call them all sasae
@Boost001302 жыл бұрын
@@JudoHighlights2015 indeed in competition they can all look the same. In practice you should easily be able to see the difference.
@juiy2222 жыл бұрын
@@JudoHighlights2015 not sure if this helps. I was always taught that it depends on whether the foot you are attacking is forward or back. If its their front foot then you do sasae near the ankle. If the foot is their back foot then you go to the knee and wheel more. This also explains the difference in kuzushi someone else mentioned elsewhere with hiza being more circular and sasae being more straight lined towards you.

I could watch hours of ippons :) This needs a part 2 with the kansetsu waza from the brazilians and of course the amazing ippon from Deguchi. Here's the difference between hiza and sasae kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmPZlHl3f9qSb5o

So 1:15 somersault throw is fine and not one of theemany hansuke make now (ie head diving etc)? I do not see the difference in safety between this kind of thing and reverse seoi nage.

You deliver amazing content bro and great commentaries ! Keep up with the very good work we love it ! By the way, at 2min50 it’s not o goshi but uki goshi, jigoro Kano sensei’s favourite throw. Entering with one hip makes it uki goshi and this allows for a very fast throw with less strength needed to lift uke yet as devastating as o goshi
