Yeah, I love how when you pop into your uke repetitively and hard enough to get him to make those involuntary grunts!

Fortunately I have great partners that do three man uchi-komi with me all the time. Great way to build power on Osoto Gari and Tomoe Nage!

Kuzushi and uchi-komi is the best way to build skill! I can't say I have ever practiced kuzushi so close to my partner. Usually starting from way back to build up speed and power. What's the idea of them practicing so close to each other? Aaron Wolf is such a unique player too
@JudoHighlights20152 жыл бұрын
This is normal distance. How far away are you from your opponent haha. I’ve heard this repeated a bunch but the idea is to make large movements smaller, making things more efficient over time

@@JudoHighlights2015 many people in my area (Midwest US) play far away from their opponents. I'm almost 2m tall so many people play far back from me and assume they are safer. There is also a large Free Style Wrestling influence in the Judo players in my area, even though my sensei is 8th Dan from Japan. The Midwest is very big on wrestling for kids and you can see it in their Judo application, even if it's wrong, the old habits die hard. President Abraham Lincoln grew up in my area and was a champion wrestler, for example.

@@OverlordRobot ah I understand now. None of that here in Japan so it’s just an unknown concept

@@JudoHighlights2015 yes wrestling is popular in schools here, but once schooling is over, you don't really have wrestling clubs for adults in cities, thus many wrestlers take up Judo or Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu (which is derived from Judo). 10th Planet Jiu-Jutsu is also becoming popular.

@@luxuryhomes8889kata and practical uchikomi definitely feels different. They do it in a manner better to break opponent’s manner, thus “unclean” because practicality does not relate to how beautiful it looks.
