I went from suddenly disabled and bedridden from autoimmune disease to walking and lost 90lbs with the Rice diet. I ate exclusively fruits, vegetables, and rice equivalents for over 3 years. The original rice diet treated diseases such as diabetes type 2, heart failure, kidney failure, diabetic retinopathy, and obesity. Like Judy, I also stopped following the diet and regained the weight. I am now doing the rice diet again and lost 40lbs so far and reversed stage 2 hypertension. There are many ways to lose weight but few are healthy. The rice diet does both, offering weight-loss and improved health. 🥰

Judy Muscovite is a sweet lady but she talks in circles and has a hard time remembering Chef AJ’s questions. But she’s 80! She is remarkable but her current diet is apparently Keto, and Keto made my body toxic and would not do that again. I’ve been Plant-Based over 10 years and I am able to control my weight with this and it has helped my husband too.

As a vegan this interview means so much to me. I am super proud that Chef AJ did an excellent job of being so respectful of a guest that during the live interview shared she is not following a vegan diet. I had read her book when it first came out and followed the rice diet. I lost weight but one of the real benefit was that it eliminated my allergies and my eye sight improved. I think that the key for healthy diets is eliminating processed foods and chemicals. Eating as our grandparents ate. Whole foods. I do find whole food, plant based makes me feel much better than anything I've done in the past. I've lost over 70 pounds in the past year and am continuing to lose and feel so much better. I'm sure as Judy indicates people need to find a way of eating that they can do every day and one that improves their health.

@@louisemurre5164 I guess I was lucky. My grandparents farmed and were big veggies and starch eaters. When they ate any meat or dairy it was small amounts and fresh. I enjoy the plant based lifestyle today and I think today people over indulge and are far from eating as our grandparents ate. The quality of the food and work ethic also plays a factor. Too much processed foods today and little activity.

I’ve got to be honest and say that if this lady could only stick to the rice diet initially because she was so regimented and had all her meals prepared for her, she was addicted to food. The minute stress was added by her mother visiting, she failed. My assumption is that she was addicted to food and under tight control she succeeded but add a bit of reality to life, i,e. Her mother visiting, it sent her straight back to the thing she craved. There’s no shame to that, I would say I’m a food addict, the minute I get a bit of stress in my life, I head straight to the ice cream and not even vegan ice cream, so I feel double shame and regret, but I still do it! I’m trying so hard to lose weight right now following the starch solution and it’s coming off so slowly that any excuse to cheat is hard to ignore. But I get straight back on the horse and keep trying. My father was an alcoholic and for many years he went to places to be “dried out” but he’d get off the bus and go straight into the nearest pub. It wasn’t until he admitted to himself he was an addict that he managed to quit drinking, without going to specialist clinics. A lot of it is mindset. I’ve had enough of being fat for over 27 years, and I feel I’ve found the perfect plan with a plant based, starch strong diet. I’m ready, but it’s not making the weight fall off any quicker and I have to learn to be patient and to do other things than eat rubbish when I’m stressed. But I’m determined to get to my goal.

You can't be a couch pillow and expect to lose weight unless you just stop eating altogether! Some can but they are the very few! Without exercise the body stagnates and does not function properly! I've fasted three times for over 30 days to restore my health at the time, and it worked every time. Your body consumes weak and diseased cells first before it starts on healthy ones! And while these people have some merit, these two ladies are clueless when it comes to human biology! The same way we are different in skin color, in size and strength, in all capacities we are also different in our particular physiology by race and where our ancestors lived and thrived! Some ate potatoes, some ate corn, some at fish, and etc. and that is embedded into our DNA and we cannot shake that! For these two or anyone else to say this is what you must eat, and what you must avoid etc. is pure ignorance on their part! Asians are smaller than the rest of the world save for pygmies, and they survived on a primarily rice diet with lots of sugary foods, and when they were introduced to cows milk they size grew dramatically, yet most of them are allergic to cows milk! Eskimos survived primarily on whale and seal meat and fat and they thrived with almost no heart issues or diabetes! The Irish survived primarily on potatoes, others survived upon grains like wheat, spelt, Barley, etc. and they thrived! After hundreds of years their DNA accepted and embraced their common food stuffs and they thrived. We cannot eat the same diets as most others and survive because our systems have not acclimated to their foods! Real doctors know that there are actually several different types of people in America who cannot tolerate each others diets without succumbing to disease and ill health! Not surprising since America is a melting pot! Some people can thrive on other peoples diets and others simply cannot! When American Indians and Blacks took on much of the Euro/American diets they quickly became obese and fall prey to illness and diabetes in epidemic fashion! That's how it goes, not as cut and dried as some so called experts will have you to believe!

@@kennyh5083 did you ever watch that show, the biggest loser, where people exercised like crazy, under ate, lost tonnes of weight, but as soon as they left, they put all the weight back on and then some. I don’t believe exercise is the answer, but of course we all need to be active for our health. And all these diets you mentioned of different cultures, are starch based! Corn, potatoes, rice, it’s all starch. Except Eskimos, who don’t live past their 40 ‘s and have horrendous heart disease, so you are incorrect there. I do agree with Chef AJ, she is a fantastic person, who gives a lot of time to educate people. Eating a high starch plant based diet is the only way I’ve been able to lose weight, but when I go back to eating the SAD diet, I start to put weight back on. It’s my mentality that needs to change, I need to eat for my health and well being, not all the rubbish which is killing us all!

The stress factor is really a problem also for me as well as the fact that we need food daily anyway. I often sleep badly so food is again a way to numb myself. I guess I must try to get better sleep and find ways to deal with stress and anxiety.

@Honey-Bee-25 Жыл бұрын
@@Godisgood173 Food addiction is not easy. The key is to find things your mind and hands can be doing that fulfill you in the same way that food does, but isn't as detrimental. For example, I used food to feel multiple moods. Happiness or celebrations, sadness, coping, boredom. I had to identify the triggered emotion and then do the activity and make better choices. The hardest one was boredom because I automatically wanted to eat when I was in front the TV, so now I drink tea or eat something low calorie like cucumbers, popcorn with no additives, or apple slices so I don't rack up calories while mindless muching. The other emotions, I write, journal, or do art and find things to soothe me in a way I can feel and process my emotions without trying to "feel" something with food. You can do it!! Just find your replacement activity to substitute the food.

She actually responded twice, so I'm posting both of her responses: "Loose skin - I had a lot of work done - upper arms, thighs. Face. Never regretted it. Careful about doctor choice, howver. Better to spend more and get the best than live with regret." "I had a ton of plastic surgery done and was glad I did. I am now 80 and don't care as much about aesthetics, which is just as well, because you sure get wrinkly as time goes by. What I appreciate most about Chef Aj and the frequent guests/ doctors (Goldhammer, McDougal, Mcgregor, Barnard) is that with their information, you know the truth. Eating oatmeal helped me give up sweets. Another thing that helps is a short fast which wakes up your taste buds and everything is delicious again. Nothing like a piece of fruit or broccoli after a fast. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. and it's liberating to enjoy actual real food again! And if you want to actually be healthy you DO have to build up your muscle mass. Especially after menopause. You don't have to sweat, it's about being strong enough to do simple things like lift yourself up off of the floor and have bladder control.

I just got Judy’s book, The Rice Diet Report and so far the book is really good. That’s why I was looking her up and happy to see her on Chef AJ’ channel. It’s a bummer to see her with some memory issues and not put into words how to do the rice diet. But her book goes into all the details. There are phases and the first phase is one fruit for breakfast (any fruit), lunch is any 2 fruits and 3/4 cup of white rice, then dinner is 2 fruits and 3/4 cup of white rice. You can have any rice except wild rice. And you can do things like cream of rice instead of rice. You stay in this phase as long as you can/want. Judy states in her book she was on it for 2 months then the next phase you start to add in vegetables. I just started that part. One thing is no salt, spices or condiments. Really goes into detail about that. The book is really good and well written. Thank you Chef AJ!! You are the best!! ❤️

Oh Chef AJ this is a wonderful podcast, depression is a serious disease and loosing the weight and regaining is a horrible thing. I am so happy Judy overcame her depression she is a gift . I also lost and regained weight after being successful for several years, When covid hit I fell into an awful depression and regained the weight. I was just diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes I am so excited to become healthy again.

I think Judy should of been honest with you that she’s on a keto diet, she avoided the question as long as possible and her angry rant about all diets working was clearly her guilt as she knows you are plant based. She used your platform to say to your listeners that keto diets work too! It hasn’t help her memory though! I’m afraid I couldn’t watch to the end because I feel this ladies diet is not what you are about. I love your shows though chef AJ and I have your book Unprocessed, which I’m using at this moment in my life to lose 70 lb.

I felt the same way, I could not finish watching this video. Her values do not align with mine, and I have learned on my human journey that I have choice of who and what I get to surround my soul with. I too noticed her guilt, I used to ignore my awareness regarding someone else's energy, now I recognize it, energetically surround them with compassion, and direct myself elsewhere.(protecting myself from their energy) CONGRATS on losing 70 pounds, so WONDERFUL!!!!! All my love Anne, love Dana

Chef AJ's channel is about healthy and delicious food. That's what brings me back time and time again! Odd that when I searched your guest Judy's name on KZbin she only shows up on vegan channels where she promotes a meat based diet. That was confusing to me. I can see why a rice diet was so remarkable for her. Her diet was pretty horrific. She could have started eating the boxes her food was packaged in and her health would have improved! Hopefully she'll learn to eat a healthy plant based diet with spices and loads of flavor so she can avoid the fad dieting and really enjoy her food! What a hard life she's had! Hopefully she'll learn to treat her body, the planet animals, and future generations better.

Yes, Dr Jackson's diet is not a for human, animal, or planetary health. I'm curious if Dr McDougal knew about the wide variety of foods, including meat, served on the 'rice diet'. I imagine there was a version that was only white rice and fruit juice.

Interesting video, thanks. It was nice to see your perfectly polite and pleasant yet rather artful persistence if you know what I mean: somehow the interviewee wouldn't - well deliberate or not, for a long time it so happened that she didn't - divulge the details listeners wanted to know. Great to know she is in good health, free of medicines; certainly seems admirably well cared for physically.

Chef AJ ... You, my dear are a masterful interviewer. What can I say. Presently, I am reading "The Rice Diet Report" by Judy Moscovitz republished by Lois Ana. I am better than half way through the publication and it is certainly a worthwhile read. Judy's before and after images are stunning. She has a very kind soul to want to HELP people with weight issues, especially at No cost. That is most admirable. As You have mentioned in this presentation, there may very well be more than one way to loose weight, that goes without saying BUT to loose that weight in such a manner as to cause harm to our health, to the animals in question and to the Good earth on which we All reside becomes Questionable. To be truly effective and long lasting, it seems to me that our choice of method needs to be HEALTH promoting and Not just for the weight loss effect only. I wish Judy every success in her journey. Thank You Chef AJ. I have so enjoyed many, many of your interviews. I am especially fond of those dialogues with Dr. John McDougall and Mary and I was quite taken with Dr. Frank Nealon and how sharp he still is at 86 years young. Keep up the Good Work Chef AJ. We can all learn something from each presentation. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

Having read Judy’s book I’m flabbergasted that she is now following a diet that is the polar opposite of the Rice Diet… She must have forgotten what she wrote back in the 80’s… She eats low carb but reverts to the RD when she gains weight. So her current diet isn’t working properly…

That's my experience too. You have to find what works for you as a permanent way of eating. Not something to go on and off. For me it has been calorie density. No weighing, measuring, counting or hunger.

One more comment. The Randle cycle is real. It’s important to understand this principle. Judy seems to get this principle. Fats and carbs don’t mix! Even as a vegan (AJ knows this) you can’t be slamming avocados and rice in a meal and expect great results, without a LOT of exercise times around that meal. Keto sucks, but it can work. Chicken and broccoli works, but it sucks. Potatoes work, but without salt it’s tough. Starch diets are the most enjoyable and work, that’s my wheelhouse for fat loss with activity. I’d rather fast than do keto… it’s been fun to revisit the vegan space and remember how all this stuff works. Thank you AJ for posting this up in spite of the controversy.

I’ve been all over the diet spectrum trying to drop my childhood fat. I really appreciate this interview in spite of the controversy surrounding the guest. To be perfectly honest, a little bit of (very) lean meat goes a looong way in terms of holding to the high carb diet. I feel best doing Dr McDougall’s program with a tiny bit of fish sometimes. Always low fat. If I’m craving fats, I will do a very basic fat fast with coconut oil or olive oil for a day. True keto (20/80) is hard and miserable. I think my years as a vegan were great until they were not, and I believe that I could’ve sustained indefinitely and stayed with the weight I lost if only I’d been a bit more flexible. I love and appreciate the heart behind veganism, truly. I suppose that’s why I’m here, now 😂

Ok soo i am just gonna say what everybody is thinking she eats meat, meat is linked to dementia and she is always forgetting what she was asked throughout the interview. She is very inspiring in that she lost the weight but i cannot say i would ever follow a diet advice from someone who is in cognitive decline from the very diet she promotes. The studies are out there proving how bad meat dairy and cheese are for the brain and body. You CAN LOSE WEIGHT EATING ANY WAY YES BUT WILL YOU BE HEALTHY AND IN FULL COGNITIVE CAPACITY? That is the real question and my answer is yes i want the diet i eat to provdie both health, weightloss and benefit to my mind because like Neal Barnard says you have nothing without your mind. Cannot say this is a story i will finish, i have to stop watching halfway through. Sorry Love you Chef AJ but this is not a story or lifestyle that can be followed, for obvious reasons… Congrats Judy though on weight loss, and no there are not many diets that work to give weight loss AND health you are proof that you got the weight loss and proof that cognitive decline occurs from the low carb diet

Your guest was awesome , very honest lots of common sense and has the ability to do critical thinking. She is telling the truth. You have to figured out what works for you! I would say the best person to date that you have interviewed! Animals are destroyed in both lifestyles. Most of the vegetables grown around the world are sprayed with carcinogenic pesticides, Animals by millions die that is cruelty as well. Raising Meat has its cruelty factor as well. So we need to be excepting of both lifestyles, figure out what is needed to do to be healthy in both lifestyles Plant or Meat based. Both bring weight loss, and good health!

Congratulations on a thoughtful patient interview Chef AJ. Judy does look spectacular for 80 years, and I do commend her on losing such a large amount of weight twice. However, I question her ability as a teacher or weight loss coach because of her lack of listening skills which would be essential to both careers. She would however be a good politician as circling around the questions are one of their best skill!

I believe she did go to therapy after that weight gain. The books she wrote explain more than the Diet phases. They explain her choices, successes, failures, vocation, and lifestyle. It's pretty interesting and motivational. She does go on to study psychology and become a social psychologist who would later dedicate her time to research the effects of positive affect.
