Probably the most safe way : check the powering / loading plug (s) ^^ (today any robot technology probably cannot stay "alive" even a few hours, without consistent sector direct powering / battery loading).

The reason why *Judy gave Pete a business card with her husband's phone number on it is because they have a really dark sense of humor and the 2 of them planned it all along.* If the husband wasn't in on it, she wouldn't hand Pete her husband's phone number or remain in-character while he called him and gave his address. Judy and her husband walked to Pete's door with an empty box, she climbed in, he put a little more duct tape on it, knocked the door and ran to the stairwell. Judy and her husband actually live in the same building as Pete and must have known his name since Pete is surprised by the knock on his door (he didn't have to "buzz them up") and when the box is opened Judy says "Hello, Pete Bonowitz". If a strange, duct-taped package showed up at my door I'd have serious concerns about the contents and the sender. At no point, would I think this is an authentic offer from a large corporation, which, by the way, is not named at all... she just says "Beta trial of the Android Assist Program". A business card would not alleviate my concerns. There's no branding on the box, no instruction manual, not even standard packaging, like styrofoam and plastic. *Pete saw right through this and thought, "let's see how compliant this 'robot' is", not realizing that this is exactly what Judy and her husband expected to happen* ... she "breaks character" right after the phone call, which is also what they had scripted from the beginning. *Even though he drags her away, screaming, as soon as they got to the stairwell they probably broke out in uncontrollable laughter.* My favorite explanation is that all 3 of them are part of an improv comedy team and they were all in on it... because this a live show in Vegas in the near future (where sex bots are common).
@herheartbeats57274 жыл бұрын
Agree with the last part of your comment...real love robots look terrifyingly pricy even today (you probably wouldn't get one *for free* even in the future, probably more chance to discover Alita's worn out head and torso in a junkyard), and to come up with all manner of package securing. . And you probably have to do all the final assemblies and booting, so that the company can deny as much of your exchange / refund claims as possible on the auspices of "you did it wrong !". That's usual, solid, standard company practice for elaborated goods. . And yes it probably would come with a detailed manual for the exact same reason. Oh and don't forget the powering and battery-loading devices because even powering a head with a tablet-size computer *uses electrical power* ! Let alone a robot endoskeleton able to move by itself (our usual standard about 75 kgs Human uses about 0.5 HP at walking, that's about 0.3 KW constantly. Even by only 8 hours a day, that's 2.4 KWH...the death of *any* 12V / 24V battery implement...).

Forta; Maybe if you looked on relationships differently, you could see things more positively. It seems, as if you're looking at women as, products like a car rather than a complex, evolving psyche and an emotional being able to analyze and interact with the world and share that with you. You need to find someone, whose world-view you admire someone's opinion you can defer to, not just an attractive body. In that case, you might as well have a robot. Real people, male or female, do become annoying. If you can't deal with that, you will be a very lonely person.

I agree, this is not sci-fi, claiming it is "sci-fi" does not make it sci-fi. Yes, there's a holographic screen on his coffee table, some sort of VR gear on his desk, a woman who claims to be a machine and a guy who seemingly accepts this as plausible. He immediately starts "using" the "technology". And it's not hard to imagine what he does while "using" VR. But the same story could just as easily claim to be "steampunk", "fantasy", "horror", "historical", "mythological", whatever. With the woman "dehumanized" by wearing a mechanical costume, pretending to be an alien, claiming she is a clone, or a ghost, or cursed by an evil witch, or possessed by demons, whatever. With the guy still callously exploiting her as a nonhuman (maybe even disposable) object. With the husband's reaction unchanged. Too many filmmakers, authors, and audiences think advanced tech gadgets or tech babble is "sci-fi" when it is not. They mistake the trappings as the message, they don't look beyond the cosmetic. Often because they themselves don't actually like sci-fi, lol, and it's apparent when their craft is presented to those who do. The only merit I see in this dull drama is the antagonist (outraged husband) being the only character whose actions seem wholly plausible, not artificially driven by the "perversion" shock-value gimmick this film tries to emphasize.

Different take: He's a robot too, and this is his programmed response if the user turns out to (ab)use the robot for sexual pleasure or otherwise damaging it. Her reaction is programmed, an emergency routine designed to override all safety limitations. She can move again but it burns out her servos and such, she'll need a more thorough service/repair once back at the lab. (The reason she seems more human is that this is a pre-programmed behavior for a very specific scenario, so they could easily make her look more human.) This way the test subject won't make any fuzz, drawing unwanted attention to the project before public release. + + + I just made this shit up to give some meaning to the story, because in itself, it mostly sucked.......... ...and not as good as the robot.
