Thank you for replying. Really appreciate your help and all the information you guys share. I am new to powerlifting....6 months into it....am female...45 yrs....5.5....130lbs. My lifts are now taking longer to improve. Squat is 155 for 5....DL the same...and bench is at 85. I live in India and have no coach or powerlifting gym near me. I train myself at the local gym. Channels like yours teach me and motivate me. Juat telling you so you realise how far your content really goes....

I really like when coaches make changes (but for a reason) instead of confusion.So many people don't stick to anything long enough to see benifits or mistakes in programing to make intellegent changes.

I also find heeled shoes pitch me forward. Doesn't matter if it's 135 I get little heart attacks out of the hole because it feels like I'm going to fall. Only low bar though, oddly enough. I front squat and high bar squat in the same heeled shoes without issue.

AjDotKom ye thats cuz heeled shoes shifts your centre of gravity forward so most likely you should highbar

Any informative response to this would be very appreciated: I've been using Olympic squat shoes from some time now, but also feel that I may no longer need them to hit depth in low bar (just for high bar and front squats when I am using them) and have been considering using a flat shoe. I currently use toe shoes for the deadlift and could considering use them for the squat if I had to, but I'd like to know everything before made the decision to not buy flats. Is there a significant difference between those flat Adidas shoes and say, Chuck's? One of the critiques of Chuck's that I have heard that always made me question whether I should try them is that although they are fairly uncompresible and form a stable base, they are basically flat on the inside of the shoe as well and therefore have no arch support. Since I have pretty flat, wide feet that seems like it might be a problem under heavy loads. Do these flat Adidas shoes have any sort of hard internal arch support? Additionally, I had been considering for some time wrestling shoes for the deadlift as they have almost no height to them but have great arch/interal support. How bad/ok of an idea would it be to squat in those? I'm somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to shoes for lifting and try to only own the smallest number of shoes I need to get the best performance/stability while lifting.

So if you don't have any mobility issues flat shoe is better? I do high bar squats with flats.

Would you recommend putting your knee as far forward as ankle mobility allows for anyone? I am concerned doing so will injure my knee in the long run.
@ericfrullaney2742
@ericfrullaney2742 7 жыл бұрын
Im not Chad or Max obv, but I thought I should do that at one point and ended up squatting high for about 3 months and missing my third attempt at my meet for depth issues (and was red lighted 2/3 and my opener and second). Worked on ankle mobility and switched to flats and depth hasn't been an issue since. Most of the time you're going to want to break at the hips first then knees (if that makes sense)
@JuggernautTrainingSystems
@JuggernautTrainingSystems 7 жыл бұрын
Basti S. If it was proving injurious then it's probably farther than your ankle mobility can handle. In regards to the hips then knees comment on here, we usually advocate for a simultaneous unlocking of both.
@bastis.5104
@bastis.5104 7 жыл бұрын
Eric Frullaney Maybe you had too little mobility at the knees? The further your knee tracks forward the smaller the angle at the knee joint gets.. Did you experience any knee pain while squatting this way?
@bastis.5104
@bastis.5104 7 жыл бұрын
+Juggernaut Training Systems Thanks for the reply! I just feel some discomfort in my knee when pushing it forward. I think I will try putting it not as far forward but still prevent it from shifting back out of the hole as you say.

when she was squatting 3x per week, did the main bench/deadlift work come first or after? Did you see any negative training effects either way?

Chad/Max thanks for this video. question- when it comes to the higher frequency in squatting for the mental side of things, I could really benefit from this. however I am a near 600lb squatter and curious how well this would work for working so frequently with weights that heavy each week. I know the general answer is probably trial and error but just curious if you had any thoughts? thanks again!
@JuggernautTrainingSystems
@JuggernautTrainingSystems 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin, Max was squatting in those ranges multiple times per day, every day for years on end, so doing it 3x/week shouldn't be an issue for you as long as you keep the volume in check. With that in mind, I think it is a shorter term strategy to be used in specific situations and not an all the time training plan.
