Freestyling is best when it's just joy. I think the battle thing has gotten too much attention-- there are other ways to freestyle. I also think of the "Lord of the Mics" videos from early '00s UK, the start of grime. Juice was just the life force itself, just flowing and flowing, infectious.

Sometimes the hardest shit be the simplest shit, but as long as the vibe is right then it's a good freestyle.
