The answer to the question about knives. They make self sharpening knives when you pull them out the block. Cusinart and j hemkles (I hope I spelled that name right). I hope this works for you. I do not use olive oil when I cook noodles anymore. I read an article that stated you would be better off just adding some salt in the noodles, and leaving off the olive oil because it doesn't do anything for the noodles, and it a waste of oil. I don't remember the name of the article I just remember I found it on Google. I haven't used it in my noodles since. I haven't tasted much of a difference. It cooks good and taste good.:)
