A modern kitchen with all the bells and whistles has NOTHING on this kitchen. This is the way it is meant to be, hearing stone grinding, feel it under your hands, the crackle of flame and the sizzle when meat touches it's heat, the earthy smell of savory. The sound of a knife cutting dough or the soft scrape of floured hands moving across it's surface and even the sound of the knife being put down on the stone counter, all this to me is Heaven. Thank you AlmazanKitchen for showing me a truth I will always hold in my heart! Sigh.

OK, for those of us who want to make these.... the cheese with the butter inside is called either Manteche or Burrino. BelGioioso carries the Manteche which is a provolone cheese with butter inside (not the round log shape though). Can be found on Igourmet. Learn something new here everyday!!!
