I lived In Torrington when I was a kid in the 1980s, coincidentally right across the street from a family-owned used bookstore on New Litchfield St. I was friends with the daughter of the owner and slept over once or twice. I think spending the night in an old bookstore was one of the things that contributed my love of reading!

I bet it did, I would have loved to have done that in the eighties 🙂👍

Some good lots with some steal of a deal . The " Best of " series are quite a catch for the SF reader/ collector . And the PKD books . Tops . And that Doc Savage lot .👍 Its possable that one book may well worth the price of the whole lot in some cases . Good haul .

Absolutely Sylvan, there are a few of these lots with just one or two books making the whole lot worth a bunch👍

Another great video, Jules! What an amazing collection and, as you say, featuring some well-grouped lots. However, I also wish there were some crime and mystery lots in there, as that's my area of interest. Re: the high price on the Ace Books paperback original Strange Events Beyond Human Understanding (at 13.44), this is a really tough book to find, especially in top condition like the copy that sold. Author S. Robert Tralins was also a prolific author of fiction and non-fiction, with over 250 (!) titles to his name, and with many of his fiction titles residing at the sleazier end ot the market, and some of which also seem to be highly sought after by niche collectors. Some of the stories in this particular book were also adapted for the early 90s US CBS TV series Miracles & Other Wonders, hosted by Darren McGavin, and a combination of these factors may explain the book's possible cult status and desirability amongst some collectors.

Ah, great information David, thanks. The original owner obviously wasn't much of a crime fan but as I said, I think the collection is only about half way through so there maybe more to come. 👍

I think they renamed some of those Alfred Hitchcock books in later editions.

Quite possibly Jim, a common practice back then I think.

Can’t help but think they could’ve realized much more if they were sold individually or at least in smaller lots

I'm afraid not Rich. We only know they were a bit of a hoarder but obviously had a love of books and amassed a superb collection 👍

Jules, great video, terrific books. I would also like to find out something about the collector and who he was. May have been someone we know in the states in the hobby. Cheers on a fascinating find and video!
