Congrats on completing the 1k. My copy of Day of the Triffids is from the 1970's. Money was always tight so never really got a proper collection. I tried to get the New Wessex paperback editions of Thomas Hardy when they were issued by Macmillan but I may have missed a few.

It takes at least 39 years to fully establish for yourself what a "rare" book actually is. 99% of books described as such are not rare, but you don't know that until you initiate your journey. That "Death on the Borough Council" is genuinely rare can now be verified. All the more surprising since it was a "mass market" paperback, not some limited edition. WWII was a rough time for books.

When you repair the spines, doesn't that diminish the value? I thought collectors were very much against repairs of any kind.
