I totally 1000 percent agree with you on how dull Michael is. That’s why I love RZ’s take on him, even if the movies sucked. They actually gave him a personality and made him a lot more personable as a MAIN CHARACTER ANTAGONIST. Like goddamn, you couldn’t characterize a man who was the focus of all the movies, (other than Laurie) just an ounce of dimension? He’s so flat in the og movies, I agree. All we can go off of is his body language. It makes it really unenjoyable at times, I personally love movies where the characters are given a lot of careful thought.

Anywhomst, billy ( original one remake billy sucks) in my book is S tier because 1 i am TERRIFIED of mens faces always have been so the fact that we only see his eye is amazing for me and his phone calls are amazing like you can hear how unhinged and dangerous he is but you can also feel sympathy for him because he does know that what hes doing is wrong (insert “please help me” call here) and he doesnt WANT to kill but he feels like he has to, plus he seems so innocent and scared kinda like leatherface (but my boy bubba is on another side of the spectrum of innocent slashers) and he reminds me of a sort of feral animal that KNOWS it needs help but is too scared to get it

Tbh, given Clive Barker's background in (sometimes traumatic) gay sex work and S&M scenes, I see Pinhead and the Cenobites (great band name btw) as partially a metaphor for Clive's clients. Hellraiser seems like an intertwined mix of sexual trauma and queer liberation, but I definitely read the Pinhead/Cenobites as impersonal and detached, unable to understand the human limitations of pleasure and pain. So, I don't think Pinhead would be a good boyfriend, but someone definitely finds him hot.

Not a traditional slasher, but Enid from Censor (2021) DOES murder someone with an ax. Her arc from conservative woman on a film censorship board to mentally unstable ax-murderer on an exploitation film set IS interesting. I don't know where she would fall on your list, but she could easily be on it!
