The music, which is honestly doing a lot of the work. The fact that every actor came back to their old roles for a SNIPPET of a scene. The age difference seems even bigger given that Buffy is incredibly mature, while Dawn is generally naive and vulnerable. By the way, Dawn/Michelle is my favourite I just love that girl so much 😀

I think Lessons was an excellent opener with the opening scene in Istanbul with the girl being chased by the shrouded men great little 'taster' of what is to come in the Season. We the see Buffy training Dawn, who says 'I'm now taller than you' we can see how Dawn has grown. Then as we are coming full circle Principal Wood cuts the ribbon to open Sunnydale High. Funny when Buffy says 'do I have mum hair' when Wood thinks she is Dawn's mother. We get our first scene of Supernatural happenings with Buffy in the bathroom. Very funny when Dawn says she was into 'Britney Spears early work, before she sold out'. Then we have Buffy as the 'embarrassing mum' ruining Dawns intro to the class. The pencil scene is great when the student asks for it Dawn them seemingly stabs her in the eye with it, a throwback to Nightmares episode in S1. As Buffy is fighting the manifest spirits, we suddenly see a very strange looking Spike behind the door. Buffy sees his injuries, we know something has changed. Xander eventually breaks The Talisman, again funny scene when the student says 'you are the coolest mum ever'. When Principal Wood offers Buffy the job on Counsellor, of course she accepts, now call me cynical but surely you would have to have training, qualifications, credentials and experience to get such a post, but hey this is Sunnydale High after all. One of the greatest scenes in the whole Buffyverse at the end with Spike being tormented by Warren, Glory, Adam, The Mayor, Drusilla, and The Master, what have they all got in common, and of course Buffy too!

Hello, Jules! 💜 Your list of hopes, for the season, followed by and your “It’s Back!” laugh. 🥰 I agree. This opener was excellent and went a long way toward recapturing the sort of innocent kindness, hope, and well being, of the first season beginnings. I thought it interesting that each character is facing some sort of activity circling kindness, in word, deed, or memory, and we see how they are coping - welcoming, adjusting, or dreading. Some filled with positivity, some trying to hang on to the feeling, and one, at least, whom suddenly feels their history and wishes they could not feel at all. Buffy and Dawn, doing sister things, open conversations and relying on one another, at last. Anya - still an absolute sweetheart of a demon. 🥲 The principal? “If he’s not evil, he’s going to get eaten!” 🤣 - I may be voting for both! 🤣 And, it may be only me, but the Giles bit - “In the end we all are who we are, no matter how much we may appear to have changed.” - whilst it may have been purposed to give a bit of comfort to Willow, in the end it can be seen from both directions - are we still good, even after appearing to go wrong, or are we still wrong after appearing to be good once again? 🤔 Lots of ideas started here in this one. A quite good opener, as you say. 🥰 Have a great weekend, Jules. 💜🤗💜 Enjoy the days, and nights. Be sure to reserve some time for you. See you next time, and Be Well. 😊

It's still dark in season seven but nowhere near as dark as season 6. Very cool intro. In Buffy the movie that they did before Joss got his TV show Buffy missed the vampires heart the first time out. And Donald Southerland played the Watcher. Special Guest Star Anthony Stewart Head. And they start their tag line "From Beneath You it Devours." You can thank your sister for this. Call back to Buffy rescuing Joyce from Faith. " Thanks Sis" " Hi Mom " Best Principal ever. Love the call back to all the original big bads.

It shows that he has truly changed.

Yes, the first episode is incredibly promising and sets up a lot for the season. Some it carries through on, some it does not. Spike was referring to his soul when he tried to cut "it" out. Insanity is not all that is going on. The scene at the end is extremely important. Somewhat like Buffy's dreams, it reveals things in ways you don't understand until later. Or maybe you will if you have been paying close enough attention to the series as you go.

"You sound like Miss Harkness" - Another Marvel Easter Egg, Willow was definitely inspired by/a mashup of Jean Grey and Scarlet Witch, so the Agatha Harkness easter egg is pretty fun. A lot of Buffy is Marvel inspired, even Buffy's name "Summers" is a reference to Scott Summers. Which makes sense, Joss later went on to do Uncanny X-men Comics, and then Avengers, and you could kind of see the feedback look where Willow was inspired by Marvel and then he used Elements from Willow in his Marvel Stuff with Scarlet Witch.

Buffy being mistaken for Dawn's mother is a probably unintended commentary on how Hollywood sees actresses - able to play a 16-year-old at age 20, can play a 16-year-old's mother by age 26. Thank you!! That means a lot 💜 We will be starting movie reactions here soon too, so there's still lots of good stuff to come other than Buffy!

Wow we’re into the final season! And then Angel will getting near to its end too! I’m enjoying your reactions to both of these shows! Maybe in the future you’ll do reactions to Babylon 5 and Farscape if you haven’t already watched those shows.

I’m always surprised. Not by the lines but by the impact. “Tried to cut it out.” His soul. He was so traumatised that he tried. To cut out. His own. Soul. Jesus Christ. Holy fuck.

I'm again gonna pitch the show Farscape as a contender to replace Buffy in the rotation when the time comes. Australian/American sci-fi from the early 2000's, produced by the Jim Henson company. Similar to Buffy in that it makes heavy use of practical effects, and tackles surprisingly dark subjects in spite of its quippy nature. Its really really good, and deserves more love.

15:35 no his soul. This is a callback to AtS 1x3 when he was torturing Angel he insinuated the he could cut out his soul.

Because you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer so much, trust me, you will love Charmed (1998-2006) even more. Just like with Buffy, Charmed really takes off at the end of season 3. You will be addicted to the Halliwell Sisters and their entire Matriarchy. The Power of 3 Will Set You Free.

On learning the Hellmouth opens beneath the Principals office: "So the Principal is evil?" "Either that, or he's in for one hell of a surprise." Make your bets now, folks!

3:00 You hope for something "more upbeat" than Season 6. I mean, the film, Philadelphia, was more "upbeat" than Season 6 of Buffy. lol

Wow, that's a comparison I've never heard....but you're not wrong 😬

After Buffy you could watch another great show, Grimm.

It gets a little weird in the beginning of the first six or seven episodes of the first season, but it's a really good show with great worldbuilding.

Ms. Jules , Sunnydale High is also offering adult education programs. I think you might be interested in advanced Wiccan courses taught by instructor and ex-cheerleader, Amy. Shall I sign you up this semester? ~Principal Robin Masters.

There are also loads of buffy comics and spin-off comics if you need your buffyverse fix. Its not the same but its something. The comics are online

Don't skip to the final scene... don't skip to the... dammit. ...Okay, from the start. Xander being an adult instead of a turnip is a nice change of pace. We never get to meet the coven, but I think a few of them might be in the background in the post-series comics? "If he's not evil, he's going to get eaten," lol. We tend to associate the heart with the soul, perhaps William was trying to cut out one with the other. Always a pleasure to see Mark reprise the Master... but so few reactors realise what the show's final Big Bad is, especially since they don't have to wait weeks/months for the next episode/season. We know Wilkins was aware of Spike, but we never knew if Spike knew who the mayor was. It's not his memories. What did all those characters, including Buffy, have in common? *watches the final scene again* Not the bang, not the word; the true beginning. I heard that, and I thought they were going to bring back the Old Ones, to make Earth a demon world once more.

HEHE!! That final scene is just TOO GOOD, I totally get it 🤣

Dawn is Buffy's age when Buffy was in S1. Technically that means anything Buffy didin S1 and The Origin will be hypocritical if she tells Dawn not to. However, it already looks like sh's keeping her word from the end of S6 and is treating Dawn a little better and is acting more like an adult herself, which is already going against last season's theme of the failure of growing up. I like that because the show is no longer a coming of age story for Buffy and is now about adulthood.
@Marvel_vs_Capcom84Күн бұрын
Yea but dawn doesn't have slayer powers to protect herself from what goes bump in the night , So Buffy has a right to be over protective knowing what she knows about Sunnydale.
@Buffy8FanКүн бұрын
@@Marvel_vs_Capcom84 My poinrt wasn't about overprotectiveness, but about being the guardian and adult figure she hadn't been last season.

6:25 You sound like miss Harkness? Really? They have a witch named Harkness? I can't believe it is a coincidence. 😂 What are the chances her first name is Agatha?
@arc73756 сағат бұрын
JW has stated that Buffy and its characters are based upon the X-Men. Willow is Jean Grey, and already had her Dark Phoenix arc. Buffy is named after Scott Summers/Cyclops with the personality of Kitty Pryde. Faith is Elektra and served as the basis for X23 and Evolution Rogue. Giles is Xavier. The Mayor is Senator Kelly.

After season 7 of Buffy, you still have season 5 of Angel. By the way, season 5 of Angel is my favorite.
