Your kids will always treat you like how you treat them. Growing up, my dad was always indifferent towards us, never really exerting the time and effort to develop a relationship. Growing up, my brothers and I have also been in the same cycle. Forgive, then hurt again. Forgive, then hurt again. Nakakapagod. Especially now na 2 of us were adults na and have a younger sibling to watch, sobra. That's why I understood when Julia said she just wanted to stop dealing from that cycle muna. Tama din naman kasi siya. Why always "magulang mo yan", "tatay mo pa din yan,"? Bakit walang boundaries on how a child can also be hurt? Bakit walang boundaries hanggang saan lang kaya magpatawad? Required ba to set aside your fear and anger just to forgive and forget? We are not in Julia's shoes to judge her for what she went through. What we've seen on social media isn't always what happened. Just leave her alone and let her heal. Julia, you are not obliged to forgive someone just because you share the same blood. His feelings are valid, but your feelings are valid too.

My niece and Julia went to the same elementary school before, since she was a kid she's really very pretty and shy. Gandang natural hindi need ng retoke para umayos ang katawan at mukha. One of the very few actress na totoong maganda, may substance, not insecure, doesn't need validation from other people, may tapang at sariling isip. She was always judged and criticize for being a Barretto. I hope people will see the real her and not judge her because of the issues within her family. I think for Julia, it's easy to forgive but then she doesn't want their dad to be in their lives again because of trauma. They know the cycle will begin again. And it's exhausting. Nakakapagod yun. And just because you've forgiven someone doesn't mean you want them back in your life. But their Dad kasi parang walang sense of awareness of the effects of his toxic behavior on his children. D mo talaga dapat patulan Ang mga negative people, but it takes a lot of courage, bravery and maturity to just be silent. People can be judgemental and just comment or maging Marites or Marisol just to say something even though they don’t know the truth. "kung hindi mo ito hinaharap at pilit na tinatakpan at tinatabunan kasi lilitaw at lilitaw gaya niyan sabi mo natrigger" that's what you said to her. i hope you're aware na magkakaiba tayo ng level ng pain tolerance and may kanya-kanya tayong healing process. she's allowed to do whatever she wants to do for her to heal and forgive someone. she's allowed to forget and runaway from all the pain especially if she's been thru so much. only time will tell kung kailan siya mag fufully heal and makakapagpatawad. but it's still up to her if she wanna forgive people tho. 'cause may cases kasi na hindi lahat ng tao kayang magpatawad lalo na kung sobra yung ginawa sa kanila and no amount of words or faith or anything ang kayang makapagpaheal no'n. and that's okay. if that's their only way para mag heal, then there's nothing wrong about it. let people do whatever they want to do and feel whatever they want as long as wala naman silang masamang ginagawa sa'yo. it's their own life anyway. lastly, i know you just wanna voice out your opinion and suggestion or help someone, but please be mindful and sensitive about your words na gagamitin. words can trigger someone's trauma and can invalidate someone's feelings and emotions. and i hope na before you speak something about trauma, i hope you're aware rin about the different types of trauma and sa different types of mechanisms to cope up with traumatic experiences. that would be all. i hope you learn something new. have a great day ahead!✨

Dear Julia, coming from a daughter whose mother is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, I related so much to how you shared your current status with your father. The fear, the years of pain, on and off, not knowing what's gonna happen next, the conversations end up being the same again and again, one season you are good with them, the next it's all upside down, you get tired, you get very scared that if you give in again, you might get hurt once more... It's like the very definition of what a child suffers from a parent who is borderline. I feel sorry for you and your siblings, because I know what it's like- it's confusing, scary and eventually you just get exhausted from feeling hurt. On top of that, you have the world to judge you every step of the way. "Kahit ano pa ang nangyari, tatay mo yan" "You owe him your life" "Respetuhin mo tatay mo"... it's what people say because of the culture we are from. But the universal truth is: -- it's okay not to be okay with a parent. Their mental stance that negatively affects their actions and sometimes even damages the relationships all around them, is something you cannot control. As parents, it is their responsibility to seek help and fix themselves. These parents cannot see the negative impact they impart on other people. They think their children owe them. They think their children should easily forgive them. They think their children should pay them. And then they hurt you again when they have wrapped you in their palms. They cry like babies when their demand for attention is not met, and then play the blame game that children are disrespectful towards them. They demand you, but only when they want you. And then forget you, because they will be busy with something else. If they can no longer control you, because you have grown to stand up for yourself, they will swarm people to go against you, because they cannot accept being unanswered or defeated by their own offspring. Even if it means you get shamed, disgusted of bashed publicly, as long as it gets your attention, they will do whatever means possible to make you react and get your reaction. This toxic and unstable personality eventually makes children exhausted, fearful and defeated. But these kinds of parents cannot see any fault in themselves. It is always the child's fault, the mother's fault or the fault of anybody else's except for them. You are the child. A child, no matter what religion or culture one comes from, is NEVER obliged to do anything for a parent. A child, no matter where one comes from, NEVER OWES anything to a parent. It is not your responsibility to fix the roller coaster ride of your dad's ability to handle relationships within his own family. It is ALWAYS the responsibility of the parent to nourish, provide, protect, defend, love and let thrive his children. The role should NEVER be reversed. So if you are hurt, take your time. If you need space, take all you need. If it's affecting your own mental health, keep distance. To anybody reading this, and related to this comment or to Julia's sentiments, please search about parents who have borderline disorder. Please seek professional help to help yourself deal with parents who are like this. And I hope you find the right resources in order to heal yourself from having the chronic trauma of being a child of a borderline parent. ☀

Nakakalungkot. The way the dad reacted to this interview speaks volumes. No wonder the kids didn't want to deal with him for the time being. The interview didn't even say something particularly new about their issues and yet he reacts this way and in public. I hope Karen doesn't give him a platform to speak (private nalang) because it will only worsen the situation. Good for view yes, but not for this family. Nakakalungkot.

All the hurdles she went through with the trauma of her relationship with her dad, her mom bringing them up alone, the rift between her mom.and siblings, her relationship with Gerald and the bashing she gets most of the time etc. Wow! Such a brave and determined soul to stand amidst eveything! Stay strong Julia coz all these trials have polished you to become a better version of yourself!
