My advice to young women is if you are in a relationship with someone who "does shit on purpose" and "breaks things" when they get mad...leave. I was in a relationship where we both had mental issues and problems, and sometimes the waves got really high that I never thought I would recover from them, but we both worked on ourselfs and got profesional help and things were going great... intil he stopt getting help and thats when I knew I had to leave, yea I had issues and one of them is how much I love him, but gurl I ran and thank the goddess for shining her lightninto my eyes so I could wake up from that dilusion

I agree. The only caveat I would add to that is if the person is aware of their issues, is actively working on them (therapy, etc.), and never actually puts their hands on you. However, I do appreciate this song's message in the sense that sometimes you can feel so messed up that you think that you are unlovable. If you grew up in a dysfunctional home, you can go to therapy for the rest of your life, but you are never going to be completely cured. Yet, some people are willing to work with you through your trauma and maybe together the two of you can continue to heal and deal with each other's issues.

He would hit me, put me down, leave me and our son with no home or food. BUT we managed without him. I grew up for my son. He’s now 10 years old and has 3 siblings from me. I am married to my best friend. Our youngest is 8 months. I have been sober for 3 years. We’ve been married for 2 months and met 3 years ago. Me and my husband met when I had nothing. I lived in woman shelters to help me over come the abuse I was enduring. I knew he was out there, I knew someone would love me right. Dylan I thank you for loving me and my older babies.
