“Julia” is amazing, fascinating, educational and, overall - to me, heartwarming. At the end of every episode I find myself shedding a ‘happy tear’. Whether it be for her love of cooking, or Julia’s love for Paul - or visa versa, I am always touched by the love aspect. And, even though, I may shed a tear, I’ve noticed that I smile throughout each episode. This series is magic!

Watched Julia growing up. She made a young boy want to learn to cook and persure a career in the culinary arts. Still love to cook just not for a paycheck. Still The French Chef and I love this program

I fell in love with this show. I love the characters. I love the relationship between Paul and Julia. Sarah and David make you believe they are the Real Julia and Paul. Can't wait for season 2. Great job!!!!

I met the lady once many years ago at a meeting and we chatted for a while. Being from Australia, I too knew nothing of her. We chatted about her time in the OSS, I was in the Royal Australian Air Force at the time. I was later told who she was and to me she was just a nice old lady.

It’s so interesting how actors recoil from the Holywood interviewer, high in pitch and just wanting the basics. The three are all serious actors. Maggie Smith and Judi Dench used to laugh at these ‘journalists’, and they didn’t even realise 😂

Are we going to get to see this in UK anyone know? We didn't know Julia herself in the UK but we got to know her through the fantastic film in which Meryl Streep played Julia. Sarah Lancashire is so incredible an actress (think there may be another Happy Valley 🙌 ) and I would love to see her in this Julia series.

Sarah Lancashire career went from strength to strength. She played ditzy barmaid Raquel in the UK soap opera Coronation Street. Her Dad is Scriptwriter Geoffrey Lancashire. He wrote script for UK sitcoms The Lovers and The Cuckoo Waltz. He wrote script for episodes of Coronation Street.

Although she is a good actress, I don't think Lancashire captures Julia Child at all. If I didn't know the movie's title, I would not know she is playing Julia Child. The cadence, speed, and delivery is all wrong, as is the light, lilting one-dimensional voice, that constantly just "skims the surface." and lacks bottom. Julia's actual voice was very unique, had many levels, and fluctuated from light to deep. Plus, Lancashire sometimes falls into small, intermittent, undercurrents of a British accent, which Julia most certainly did not have. Additionally, I see absolutely no mannerisms of Julia Child (she had many) in this performance. Meryl Streep was astonishing and brilliant when she played Julia, solidly capturing her voice, personality, and mannerisms. She nailed it! No comparison!

Meryl Streep played Julia in one film and had to share screen time with another lead character. Lancashire is playing Julia as the lead character in an 8 part series. Streep was very good in a relatively small role, and in a small role she was able to be OTT and very punchy. If Lancashire did that to the same degree for 8 hours for a whole series it would drive us all crazy.Lancashire shows us a rounded, frequently vulnerable character, not Streep's comic turn. Horses for courses.
