That was something I thought so ever since J's KZbin started. I started following her in YT during the height of the issue she's involved with and i would mentally disagree with people who thought J doesn't make sense. i was wondering why other people couldn't see what i see in her when she speaks with so much wisdom. BUT it's only recently that I've seen what I've been missing. J maybe has deep perspective on life but her actions or some actions CONTRADICT her words. to simply put it, she doesn't walk her talk. i know she's smart and i hope she really try to change this aspect of her.

One of my favorite lines from Norwegian Wood is "'Letters are just pieces of paper -Burn them, and what stays in your heart will stay; keep them, and what vanishes will vanish." It's the first Murakami that I've read back in 2016 and at that time, I believed it was the greatest novel that I've read but I was wrong! NW is tender and light and most probably Murakami's softest form of prose - but the elements that make something Murakami-esque, like the metaphors he use to describe feelings and settings (just like the line that Claudia read and the point that Julia made about tigers and butters not going together but the emotion that it conveys making sense) is lacking in Norwegian Wood. Magical realism is Murakami's form and you can find it strongly in his other works. It's great to start with NW if you want to get into his books but I really highly recommend reading Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman first (collection of 24 short stories) because it has all the elements unique to Murakami. After that, exploring his other works will be an amazing journey for you (but ofc I may be biased because he's one of my favorite authors; also, After Dark is my number one favorite from him) 😊.
@cosmixc21803 жыл бұрын
thank you!! i was planning to read nw, but since i'm just new to reading books, i'm nudged by myself to start with the fundamental one, such as u've stated. can u pls suggest to me sum online shop where i can buy that book(?) (nw) even though, i won't read it yet.

I’ve read Norwegian Wood last year. And one thing I can say for sure that she said is true is that, it really hits close to home and how the author had described his perspectives on the basis of rudimentary emotions such as sadness and pain has been quite distinct and it just plays out in your mind like you’re just there watching them with them that it feels like you’re not reading at all but just watching a scene coming out of the book itself.

I really enjoyed this video! Claudia's reviews were so insightful and personal. Recommending some of my faves: - Murakami's Kafka on the Shore (this one is so goood, since you already like Murakami, I think you should try this one) - Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See (WWII setting, beautiful prose, 10/10 will make you cry)
