Self love is developed by the promises we make and KEEP to ourselves. Growth is the result of facing our fears and trying new things.

I can see how my relationship with myself is damaged because of my inner voice. My inner voice is that same critical voice of my very abusive family. I need to do better for myself with my little girl so she can see me have a good relationship with myself so she can have a good relationship with herself.

Ps.Listening to the video to the end will be of tremendous benefit. My scanty notes. 1.) Make small promises to yourself and keep them. 2.) Listening to yourself and your needs and respecting that. (It's not all about me but it's never not all about me.) 3.)Be mindful how you talk to and about yourself. 4.) Do things that you are scared of. Eg going back to school, doing a marathon etc. Things that are not a threat to our existence. 5.)Taking responsibility for self, life and choices.

Self doubt has always been my biggest enemy. It's caused me to stay in abusive relationships, go on disability because of anxiety disorders, and waste so many good years. Now at 55 years old I realized I've wasted it all and that just increases the self hate I already had. If I had the money I'd join the shift, but I'll at least glean from the videos as much as I can. I've been pushing myself out of comfort zone lately, like volunteering a whole spring, summer and fall on a farm. I was determined to complete the season come hell or high water, and even though it was hard on my body, I did stay to the end. And that was a big deal for me to call them up and stammer for a volunteer position. But the feeling of pride wore off after only a couple weeks. And I did a few other stretching things, but same result. I guess that happens to people who are depressed--we throw cold water onto the good things and wonder why life seems so damp and chilly. How long does it take to train the brain to stop that habit? I'm running out of time.

That was the video that helped in the moment when I decided to go back to school, here I am a year away from my degree and I have grown so much, but these feelings seem to circle back around. I decided to take the year off and work my craft retail job and create art in my free time, but I've yet to get to the creating.., this video has helped though just gotta get the ideas moving.💡 Thanks so much for the videos❤❤❤

It's one of the best things I have listened to or read about true self- love lately, to be quite honest. You are quite right, if we really feel secure, safe and truly love ourselves, that will prevent us from being self-centred or narcissistic as we could truly focus on other people and contribute to other people well-being, other projects because we really trust ourselves and are able to truly love and trust other people. Congratulations on the perspective of this video!😊❤

Sometimes taking these steps are difficult due to experiencing verbal abuse and it turning into our own thoughts when we didn’t have control over escaping the abuse when we knew it was hurting us. This is where our caregivers made it seem we deserve it and how we should see ourselves and why so many people are broken. This makes reality very hard to grasp that it’s so easy to bounce back to verbally abusing yourself because the right things seem fake and scary to where I panic because I am not use to it

I always put my needs last, and i feel selfish if i dont. I think its just in my mind like that. Its hard to even lay in bed and rest when i need it because i feel so bad thinking i should be doing something productive.
@dianep6335
@dianep6335 3 жыл бұрын
I get that a lot too. One video seemed to shed some light as to why we feel like we should be doing something else--someone (or many) we grew up with shamed us for resting or doing something we enjoy. It's their voice in our heads saying "should", not ours. But it is hard to turn it off, isn't it, because now we're programmed. But if we can remember that, maybe we can turn our own voice up louder ("I'm tired and it's in my best interest to rest!!")

Hi yes i can Relate i have that too but -The key is to understand that no matter what happens, or what challenges you face, you can choose your response, which dictates pretty much everything that happens next. Truly, the greatest weapon you have against pain, anxiety, negativity and stress is your ability to choose one present thought and action over another - to train your mind to make the best of what you’ve got in front of you, even when the journey is harder than you expected. Yes, YOU CAN change the way you think and respond to life! And once you do, you can master a new way to be.😋

I love this. You really explained more about self. Im just out of a relationship that i kinda knew it was toxic and full of red flags but i chose to stay for the second time anyway. Deep inside I knew i should have left long ago and not suffer anymore. Self love is learning to protect yourself from further suffering. You are right about keeping promise to ourselves. Its true. I didnt keep mine, I should have, I wouldnt have gone through second hell I have been through. But we live to learn. This time, I really wont do that to myself again.

This is the best explanation of why self love isn't selfish - explaining how being insecure and not good to yourself actually results in being accidentally more focused on yourself. The need to be reliable for yourself too is a really valuable point.

Hi Coach! You know, this is my favorite topic to cover - anything to do with having a healthy dose of self love, esteem and acceptance! 5 ways to love yourself: 1. Keep promises to yourself. 2. Listen to what you need. 3. Be mindful about how you talk to and about yourself. 4. To do things you are scared of. 5. To take responsibility for yourself, your life and your choices. I love having a better relationship with myself so I can love others better and I love learning all of this so I can help teach it to others! Thanks coach! ❤🙏 #Shifter #SeniorShifter #TheShiftSociety

Life can be tough but Choose to take up a lot of positive space in your own life today. Choose to give yourself permission to meet your own needs. Choose to honor your feelings and emotions. Choose to make self-care and personal growth top priorities! Choose to think better about yourself, so you can live better in spite of the challenges you face. And YES, I know that's sometimes much easier said than done. Truth be told, inner peace begins the moment you take a new breath and choose not to allow an uncontrollable event to dominate you in the present. You are not what happened to you. You are what you choose to become in this moment. Let go, breathe, and begin... peace🕊

I never thought I could get any confidence because in my eyes I had no logical reason to be confident. I also thought how can I be confident when there are no things in my life to support that, like a good job, skills, social prowess, love. But I was wrong here because confidence does not come from external sources, and if it does it means if you lose that you lose the confidence and you really rely on external factors like what people think of you and what you have, so if anything it's less valid. The inner kind you can keep and is truly yours. Now to, but how to get that if you feel like you needed the external things in life, maybe you had no love or friends or anything to make you feel good and you started to devalue yourself, and you internalized negative things from others too. There then is the key, to rework this, start giving yourself those things. If you do a good job no matter how small say I'm gonna feel good about that, the only thing saying "that's nothing" is negative self talk based on expectations you or others had of you throughout life, that doesn't need to be true. "Ops I made a mistake, that's ok, ha ha no harm done. You know, I like these things about myself, they are good, it's time I take them to heart anything else is irrational and not reality. You know what I'm gonna feel good about me regardless of what others think, I do not put their value of me over my own value of me, I am who I am it's my life I'm gonna feel good and live good and no one is that important to keep me from that, it's "MY" life, after all not theirs, it belongs to me and its in my power how it goes and how I feel. If they do not mean me well or affect me negatively, I will not grant them the power over me to influence my life and my sense of self. Trust yourself and your feelings and what's important to you, in your life that is what matters for you first and foremost. Talk to yourself like you would want to be treated by others, like you would want to feel, like you would treat others, then it's very clear what is right and what is wrong. Show love to yourself by doing actions that confirm that, be easy on yourself, do nice things for yourself, commit to what you want to do, think of yourself in a way that shows patience and understanding.

Self love is rooted in self trust. Making and keeping promises to yourself. No excuses. Never make unrealistic promises. Make small promises that you can keep. This will increase you self trust. Listening to yourself and your needs and respecting that. Not to confuse with self-interest / self-indulgence. Me-me all the time. Needs like wanting to rest, wanting to take care of yourself, wanting to lower the expectations, saying no to something due to time-crunch or other issues. You matter the most in your life, make time for yourself, especially when you need to hold yourself. Listening to what you need for your mental, physical health, well being, and paying attention to that. Saying no politely when you need to. Be mindful. About how and what you talk to yourself. Talk to yourself realistically, and don’t beat yourself up. Do things you are scared of. Not something dangerous XD. Again be realistic about the though processes involved during that. Help yourself standup again after falling and failing to do something. Going through the process even if that is difficult, shows us that we are willing to try again and believe in ourselves. Not doing extremely hard things, that are traumatic to put yourself out there, but little things that stretches us a bit. Little bits of stretching is how we grow. When we see ourselves growing, making progress, actively involved in your lives., we feel better and proud about ourselves. Take responsibilities for your self, your life, for your choices. This is where we actually have control about things, what is in our hands.

Ok, I treat everyone better than I treat myself. I would never break a promise to a friend or someone I’m in a relationship with, but when it comes to me I am a serial promise breaker. I would give the shirt off my back but would not take the shirt off and give to myself 🤦🏾‍♂️. Not loving yourself should be a felony.
